Mini-Motion Games Carry Custom Controllers

Aptus Games' Mini-Motion titles each come with their own custom controller, tailored to the gameplay.

Now that Guitar Hero has proven its OK to make a single game that needs its very own unique controller to play, it looks as if other companies are taking the niche controller idea a step further. On Friday, newcomer Aptus Games took the lid off its Mini-Motion titles – a whole series of games that come with their own controllers, modeled after in-game equipment.

The skateboarding game, for instance, will come with its own skateboard controller, which looks a lot like a Tech Deck skateboard mounted on a joystick. Other titles will include RC cards, baseball, and futuristic racing games.

“The realism created through the Mini-Motion line will transform how players can more naturally participate, experience and interact with their favorite real life sports, games, and hobbies,” said Aptus Games president Loren Kaiser, in a statement. “We are expecting Mini-Motion to tap into a wide audience from existing fan bases of gamers, collectors, action and sports enthusiasts.”

Aptus will swing low with the price on the Mini-Motion titles, which will all retail for $20, including their respective controllers. They will debut for both Macs and PCs in retail stores in the fourth quarter.
