New Logitech Wheels Deliver Racing Realism
The G25 (PC/PlayStation 2) and DriveFX (Xbox 360) make use of new technologies and features to deliver a more engrossing video game race day experience.
Logitech today took the wraps off of two new steering wheels, one for the PC and the other for Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The Logitech G25 Racing Wheel is priced at $299.99 and will be available in October, while the Logitech DriveFX Wheel will be available in July for $99.99.
The Logitech G25 Racing Wheel, said Logitech, is their newest PC gaming entry (it also works with the PlayStation 2). Calling it “limited edition†and their “most advanced gaming wheel everâ€, the G25 reportedly mimics much more advanced racing simulators by offering features such as a six-speed gated shifter and clutch pedal; two high-torque force-feedback motors; an 11-inch wheel; and a full 900 degrees of rotation. The wheel, shifter and pedals are made with high end materials such as stainless steel and leather and the entire setup is compatible with current racing titles, such as rFactor and Live for Speed, as well as several other PC racing titles currently in development.
The Logitech DriveFX Wheel is the company’s first licensed wheel for the Xbox 360. The device, which features gas and brake pedals on a weighted base, two wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and a full set of Xbox 360 buttons for menu navigation and game setup, uses axial-feedback technology, “with a powerful motor built into the base of the steering columnâ€, to reportedly deliver a higher level of racing realism. This technology translates feedback from the game in such a way that the wheel handles more realistically to the on-screen car’s dynamics.
