Nintendo Confirms Wii Fit Price: $89.99

Nintendo has confirmed its much-anticipated Wii Fit interactive fitness game will be priced at $89.99 when it hits U.S. retailers on May 19.

Nintendo has confirmed that its much-anticipated Wii Fit interactive fitness title for the Nintendo Wii will carry an $89.99 price tag when it goes on sale at U.S. retailers May 19. Although it’s arriving in the United States a little too late to keep off those excess pounds from the end-of-year holidays, the title with its unique balance board controller has already sold more than 1.4 million copies in Japan, where it went on sale December 1, 2007.

Customers in the New York City area who are particularly eager to set hands on Wii Fit have some extra motivation: from April 18 to 20, the first 1,000 customers who place a $5 deposit for Wii Fit at the Rockefeller Center Nintendo World store will get a free t-shirt featuring Nintendo game designer Sigeru Miyamoto.

Wii Fit is expected to be another successful, non-traditional gaming title for the Nintendo Wii, which has already seen non-traditional gamers like senior citizens warm to its Wii versions of bowling, tennis, and golf. Wii Fit incorporates more than 40 exercises from yoga, balance, strength training, and aerobic activities in a way that may help users incorporate daily exercise into their lives.
