Nintendo World 2011 3DS lineup unveiled

Nintendo has unveiled the full list of 3DS games it will show at Nintendo World 2011 show in Tokyo from Jan. 8-10. 32 titles have made the list, 15 of which will be playable at the show. If you can read Japanese, the list is right here. If not, then maybe this list will help ease your lingual ineptitude.

Highlights of the list include a new Professor Layton title, the long awaited Kid Icarus revival, a remake of Ocarina of TimeNintendogs + Cats, and a new Pilotwings game, one of Nintendo’s oldest brands. The award for longest game title goes to Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D “The Naked Sample”. Let’s hope they shorten that name down after the show.

Playable 3DS games:

  • Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D “The Naked Sample”

Are there any titles in particular you’re looking forward to? Pilotwings Resort is at the top of my list. I’ve been waiting to practice my skills at jet-packing and gyrocopting again for almost 15 years.

Nintendo seems to be relying heavily on established video game franchises and brands to launch its new system. Only one original game will be playable at the show: AR Games, which is a collection of small augmented reality games that will come packed in with the 3DS when it launches. Augmented reality means using the camera to manipulate real world images or video in some way. An example of this would be a game that added Pac-Man pellets to the street as you walk down it (when viewed on the screen).

Excited about the list? The 3DS is available for pre-order at GameStop. 3DS titles will also be shown at the World Hobby Fair.
