Quake 4 Debuts for Macs

Popular multi-platform first person shooter is ported over to PowerPC and Intel-based Macintosh computers by publisher Aspyr Media.

Aspyr Media, a publisher of interactive entertainment software, today announced they’d begun shipping Quake 4 for the Mac. This title is priced at $49.99 and rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB.

Quake 4 for the Mac, said Aspyr Media, is a Mac OS X Universal application which is designed to run natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macintosh computers. The game, which is a sequel to Quake II, was developed by Raven Software and produced by id Software. The title lets gamers take on the role of “Matthew Kane, a member of the legendary Rhino Squad, to penetrate deep into the heart of the Strogg war machine and engage in a series of heroic missions to destroy the barbaric alien race.”

Quake 4 is built on id Software’s Doom 3 technology and also features multiplayer competition modeled after the style of Quake III Arena.
