Resistance: Fall Of Man Under Fire Again

Manchester Cathedral has had another blast at Resistance: Fall of Man now it’s been nominated for a BAFTA award.

A few months ago Manchester Cathedral demanded an apology from Sony and went so far as to consider legalaction over the use of the building for a violent scene in the game Resistance: Fall of Man, without permission. Now the Church is up in arms again over the fact that the game has been nominated fora BAFTA award.   The Dean of Manchester, Reverend Rogers Morgan Govender received his apology back then, but now he and other church leaders are demandingthat BAFTA drop the game’s nomonation.   “It is a disgrace that ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ has been short-listed for a BAFTA," Govender told TechNewsWorld. "Sony has admitted that it did not have permission to film or use Manchester Cathedral in its computer game and said, and I quote, ‘We areconfident that there is no legal requirement for us to seek such permission.’"   Sony never pulled the game from the shelves, and must be happy at the nomination, especially as it’sreceived several mediocre reviews. Certainly a renewed round of publicity in the wake of the nomination won’t hurt sales at all. Sony has insisted all along that the game was never meant totake place in the real world, but in an alternate Europe during the 1950s.
