We previously reported that Shadow Warrior would be released sometime towards the end of September for next-gen consoles, and now we have a specific date. The game will be available on September 23 in North America for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and on September 26 for those same platforms in Europe. This reboot of Shadow Warrior was previously released for PC in 2013 — on September 26, as it happens. It’s an update of the 1997 classic that adds a fresh coat of HD visuals and new gameplay while still subscribing to the same philosophy that characterized early first-person shooters. In addition to the release date announcement, Bandai Namco revealed new content that will feature into the console versions of the game. There’s no word on when or if any of this will be added to the PC release. The exclusive content includes:

  • New Arena mode where Lo Wang faces off against waves of enemies in three custom-designed environments
  • All-New Campaign content featuring the head of the nefarious Zilla Enterprises.
  • Exclusive weapons including the sledgehammer from Serious Sam 3, the katana from Hotline Miami, the “Zilla Enterprises Z45 katana” and “classic Shadow Warrior katana”

PS4 vs. Xbox One: Which Is Right for You?
sony exec says ps4 xbox one cross platform technically easy vs

The Xbox One versus PS4 battle rages on in 2021, as the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 remain out of stock at most retailers. These last-generation consoles won't deliver the best gaming performance possible, but thanks to a large library of exclusive games and backward compatibility, they're still a solid option. Plus, they both double as Blu-ray players and streaming devices.

The eighth console generation saw stiff competition from Microsoft and Sony. The Xbox One started the generation from behind, with Microsoft undoing a series of consumer-unfriendly decisions to make its platform more accessible. The PS4, on the other hand, launched to near-universal acclaim and maintained a lead over Microsoft for the majority of the generation. As the eighth generation closes, however, it's clear Microsoft made up at least a little bit of ground.

Cyberpunk How to level up fast

CD Projekt Red issued an apology following Cyberpunk 2077's rough launch. The developer says it should have paid more attention to the game's PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions and promised that fixes were coming.

The company tweeted an apology out on the same yellow announcement backdrop that became synonymous with the game's delays this year. The post apologizes for not giving players more transparency about the state of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game in the lead-up to its release.
