SOE Debuts 10th Everquest Expansion Pack

New Depths of Darkhollow for popular Sony online role playing game adds new features such as the ability to play as a monster.

Sony Everquest fans get ready – there’s a tenth expansion pack coming your way. Available now in retail and download forms for $29.99 is Everquest Depths of Darkhollow.

Set below the surface of Norrath, Sony Online Entertainment explained, Depths of Darkhollow offers players several new features. Monster Missions allows gamers to play as a monster instead of a normal character. Spirit Shrouds transform adventurers into a creature at any level below the character’s own, such as an Orc or Fairy. Evolving Items grow in experience as they are used, developing new powers and abilities.

Other new features of Depths of Darkhollow include over 60 missions, 30 creatures, tradeskill recipes, spells and alternate advancement abilities.

"As the tenth expansion for EverQuest, Depths of Darkhollow is impressive in so many ways," said Chris Sturr, senior brand manager, Sony Online Entertainment. "The passion and dedication of the development team is clear as they continuously deliver triple-A expansion packs filled with innovative gameplay features and tons of new game content year after year. Continuing strong after six-and-a-half years, EverQuest is second to none with unparalleled success."

"I’m very happy to announce that we'll have the first public showing of the expansion for World of Warcraft at BlizzCon."

WoW is such a better game than EQ, but the server latency is horrendous at times.

Meanwhile, WoW has more customers and owns the MMO market with free updates and no sign of a paid expansion - don't quote me , quote Chris Kramer SOE's Director of Corporate Communications who say in a New York Times interview ""World of Warcraft is completely owning the online game space right now,"
