Oh and IF THEY DO GO PAY TO PLAY IT'S ALL XBOX SUPPORTERS FAULT.

Sony lost millions each year and watch xbox make 2.75 BILLION per year on xbox live when they don't give anything for it.

Online play has always been free on every other gaming platform.

RROD happened, xbox 360 has no high tech yet costs a lot, the only one pay to play, the only one that makes you sub for right to sub to netflix, no exclusives (all on PC or jumped ship), forced upgrades on PC and orig. Xbox gamers (Halo 2 for PC vista only, dropped service/support/games on orig. xbox).

Anyways, if Sony does pay to play you can blame the stupid people that paid for xbox live.

Wow! you took this the wrong way.

1st Sony confirmed just 2 years ago that online play would remain free.

2nd the tiered service is:

Silver = free, free online play, access to internet,chatting & streaming services
gold = $50/year, basically PS+, all the above + free games, free map packs, free starter packs, free premium themes/avatars, exclusive beta's, huge discounts ect.
Platinum = all the above + unlimited streaming via gaikai

If this happens it will entirely hurt the industry for sony,let’s face it,people (more than most) state if things go digital over hard copy that they will not buy into it and i am one of them.Digital only has way more limitations than they think,such as corrupted data,loss of data,having to buy many overpriced small hdd’s,re downloading hours of data if dat is to be lost etc etc! I will stick with my hard copies no matter what even if i have to remain playing my old retro consoles.

I liked PSN being free when it was introduced in 2007-08, but i completely understand if they decided to charge for PSN for PS4 or some kind of tiered service. Let’s face it, times are hard for everyone, economy wise. For what they are offer now for $50 a year it is a good deal. So if they go forth with charging on the PS4 I’ll be ok with it.
