In writing "next-generation," I'm not referring to any specific performance level or set of specs. No matter how you feel about Nintendo and the company's consoles as compared to those of its competitors, the Wii-U is their next-generation console. It's the next generation of gaming tech for Nintendo (both chronologically and tech-wise), and their entry into the next generation of consoles in the market (no matter how it stacks up in the end).

Personally, I wish their next generation of gaming console was that massive Gameboy that falls over in the animated video. I would play the heck out of a Gameboy that was the size of an arcade cabinet. ;)

Well, the way I look at it... the Wii-U is what the Wii was supposed to be. Or, what it should have been. The Wii-U is to Nintendo what Windows 7 is to Microsoft. The only reason why I even consider this a current/last gen console is, its output is in HD... It does employ the power7 architecture, which is pretty cool, but that's all I see being out there. Maybe I'm just jaded because I think Nintendo is doing a horrible job moving forward. They rely on gimics to sell their products. Oh well... Nintendo most likely will never again be the big player that they were in the 80's/90's...

erm.... I'm sorry, but the Wii-U is not a next gen console. It's a last gen console. Nintendo is behind... far far behind. My prediction: It will do decent at first. The fan boys will buy it up. But after about a year, they will see profits dwindle again. No one wants gimmicks like the wii-u tablet controller. Nintendo has rehashed it's games more times than any other console. Seriously, how many times does Zelda need to be retold? The wii-U is nothing but another gimmick coming out of Nintendo's labs, and a half bit gimmick at that.
