Darling Clementine: Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ is back on December 20

The Walking Dead — the television series — is well into its seventh season, but there is another series based on Robert Kirkman’s zombie-killing epic that has been missing in action for quite a long time. The wait, however, is nearly over: Telltale’s The Walking Dead game will see its third full season kick off in December.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series — A New Frontier will begin on December 20 and picks up four years after zombies nearly destroyed civilization and forced protagonist Clementine to grow up in a hurry. She is joined by new character Javier, “a young man determined to find the family taken from him” whose fate is “bound together” with Clementine’s. The game’s first artwork features a moonlit shot of dozens of zombies moving toward the camera in a classic, George Romero-like fashion.

A New Frontier will also be available as a physical “season pass disc” on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will ship with the first episode installed on February 7 and will then provide free access to the remaining four episodes as they release.

A few platform-specific bonuses are also available for those willing to pre-order. On PS4, purchasing the digital version of the game will get you a free copy of both The Walking Dead: Season Two and The Walking Dead: Michonne, while anyone pre-ordering the game through Steam will receive a 10 percent discount.

Telltale Games is understandably tight-lipped about the specifics surrounding the new season’s narrative, but we will not have to wait too much longer to learn some details. The developer is planning “a special extended first look” during The Game Awards 2016 on December 1. The show was previously used by Telltale to announced its Batman adaptation.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series — A New Frontier will hit digital storefronts on December 20 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, iOS, and Android.

Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Online will be available as a stand-alone game. Players can purchase the online game without buying Red Dead Redemption 2 starting on December 1.

Red Dead Online will be available as its own game via the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Rockstar Launcher. The game will normally cost $20, but Rockstar Games is offering it at a $5 introductory price until February 15. The game will include an option to unlock Red Dead Redemption 2's single-player story mode for an additional cost, though no specific price is listed.
