Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection releases in less than a month, and if you still haven’t picked up a PlayStation 4, then Sony has the perfect way to get on board: an Uncharted bundle will be launching the same day as The Nathan Drake Collection, and it won’t cost you any more than a standard console.

Unlike the recently announced Star Wars Battlefront bundle, the PlayStation 4 included with The Nathan Drake Collection appears to be the standard, no-frills black console. The official product page for the bundle says that the PS4 is “the one and only place you can experience developer Naughty Dog’s groundbreaking Uncharted trilogy all in one place,” which is technically true, as the game’s digital voucher includes all three games as opposed to the separate discs and downloads of the original PS3 games.

Sony is no stranger to offering remastered Naughty Dog games in PlayStation 4 bundles. Just last year, The Last of Us: Remastered was offered in a similar bundle, offering a digital version of the game along with the standard 500 GB console.

SCEA’s John Koller calls the bundle “perfect for anyone who wants to uncover the story of the famed fortune hunter for the very first time” before the delayed Uncharted 4 finally hits the PlayStation 4 next March. Having skipped the PlayStation 3 last generation, I fall into that camp, having only played the Vita-exclusive Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

If you also plan on buying Uncharted 4 next year, you might want to start saving up some extra cash. A $120 “Libertalia Collector’s Edition,” featuring a Nathan Drake statue, steelbook, artbook, and even stickers, continues Naughty Dog’s tradition of excellent collector’s editions, and they have a tendency to go up in price quickly; the current asking price for the “Post-Pandemic Edition” of The Last of Us on Amazon is $700, and it comes with a comparable selection of items.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection arrives Oct. 9.

The best open-world games for PS5
A character sits in front of a glowing, yellow orb in Elden Ring.

Since its release in 2020, the PS5 has amassed a large library of experiences, from shooters to sports games, RPGs, and platformers, along with a wide variety of open-world adventures. While "open world" isn't necessarily a genre in and of itself, it's a style that millions of players have fallen in love with over the years. These days, open-world games are quite common, meaning the competition to grab your attention is much stiffer. And with the likes of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 down the pipeline, there will be plenty more to play in the future.

Despite this, there are so many fantastic open-world games available on the PS5. Some lean into horror, others send you to historical periods, while one, in particular, lets you explore the entire galaxy. There is no shortage of open-world games to play on PS5, and here, we'll go through all of the best ones to choose from.

Art fights a giant bird in Dreams.

Sony announced the three-game lineup that PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers can redeem for free throughout the month of August. It's an odd batch of titles that includes a sports game, one of 2021's best indies, and a user-generated, content-focused PS4 exclusive that never got the love it deserved.

Specifically, those three games are PGA Tour 2K23, Death's Door, and Dreams.

Humanity is the best PS5 (and PSVR2) game I’ve played so far
Humans jump over a gap in Humanity.

Over the past few years, I’ve found myself mourning the PlayStation brand I grew up with. When I was a kid, PlayStation was an eccentric platform home to the kind of oddball creative swings you now only ever see indie publishers take a chance on. In the PS5 era, though, Sony has doubled down on a cinematic action-adventure formula that feels less safe (though likely way more profitable) by comparison. It’s an understandable pivot, but it leaves me hungry for more diverse experiences on my PS5.

Thankfully, that desire has been satiated with Humanity, a game that’s already nabbing several impressive accolades from me. It’s the best reason to subscribe to PS Plus, the best game currently available on PlayStation VR2, and perhaps the best PS5 console-exclusive period (it’s also available on PC via Steam). The unique puzzler has all the markings of those left-field PlayStation classics I love … except for the fact it wasn’t developed or published by Sony at all.
