Warner Bros. Buys TT Games

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is buying UK game studio TT Games, the studio behind the Lego Star Wars games, Bionicle Heroes, and other titles.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group has announced it is buying UK game studio TT Games for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 2005 from the merger of Traveller’s Tales and Giant Interactive Entertainment, TT Games was one of the largest remaining independent game studios, and is responsible for developing the Lego Star Wars games, Bionicle Heroes, and many other titles.

“TT Games is very successful and respected in the game development and publishing world,” said Warmer Bros. CEO and chairman Barry Meyer, in a statement. “They are a great fit for us and the right next step for Warner Bros. as we grow into a significant presence in the games space.”

TT Games holds worldwide rights to develop Lego-based video games, and has produced a number of titles, including Lego Star Wars,Lego Star Wars 2; The Original Trilogy, and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. The company is currently working with LucasArts to develop Lego Indiana Jones, and will be rolling out a Lego Batman title in 2008.

TT Games will continue to manage its relationships with Lego, LucasArts, and the Guineess Book of World Records, and will become the family-focussed foundation of Warner Bros. overall game strategy. Warner continues to work with studios like EA, Midway, Eidos, and Monolith Productions on other game properties, including the F.E.A.R. sequel Project Origin, and an upcoming Speed Racer game based on the planned Joel Silver feature film.
