The reclusive wizards of the Nintendo Treehouse have opened up its hallowed doors to livestream the team’s upcoming releases, including Super Smash Bros. 3DS, today at 4pm EST. You can get in on the fun at the Nintendo Twitch channel. The stream has already begun with Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Ultimate NES Remixand Fantasy LifeAt time of this writing, Princess Ruto is drenching the battlefield in Hyrule Warriors with a torrent of aquatic magic. Smash Bros. is the main event, though, as the only game with its own, dedicated time slot.

Nintendo is ending Wii U and 3DS eShop service

Nintendo has announced the end of its eShop service for the Wii U console and 3DS handheld. The eShop will stay live on those devices until late March 2023, after which players will no longer be able to purchase games or download eShop apps and services for those devices.

After the closure, players will still be able to redownload games and DLC that they already own, use online play, and download software updates.

The next Super Smash Bros. would have to shrink the roster, says creator Sakurai

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed in an interview with The Verge that the next entry in the franchise, if it happens, wouldn't be as content-laden as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now.

"I think we've reached the limit, at least in terms of volume and content and fighters," Sakurai said. "Basically, if I were to have the opportunity to work on another Super Smash Bros. game, that means we would have to shrink the roster, but we need to think about whether fans would be pleased about that."

Three years out from its initial launch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will receive its final character adjustments in its next update. While it's not clear when version 13.0.1 of the game is set to launch, players will finally have a solid, unchanging version of the game, which makes a world of difference for its competitive players.

The game's last update, Version 13, included character adjustments and added its final DLC character, Sora, to its roster.
