Thank you to everyone that entered! We appreciate your support, and hope to have many more competitions like this in the coming weeks. A special shout out goes to our winners:
Sydney Meza (PS3)
Kyle Newton (360)
On November 8, Activision launched a small, little indie game called Call of something-or other. It seemed to do ok, and it made a few bucks. If you don’t recognize that as a joke, this contest clearly isn’t for you.
Since its release on November 8, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has gone on to dominate the sales charts, and sport some impressive reviews to boot (you can find our review of the game here). In fact, the word “dominate” doesn’t even really do it justice. The game annihilated the charts, stomping on not just gaming records, but all entertainment records in general. In just five days the game has earned $775 million. In five days! In its first 24 hours it set a new entertainment record with a $400 million debut, making it the biggest entertainment launch property of all time. And while many will point to the higher price tag as part of the reason for the records, it is still a mind-blowing figure, and one that will increase as the holiday season kicks into full gear.
But why wait for Christmas? We have two copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to give away, one for the PS3 and one for the Xbox 360, and both are signed by members of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, the developers of MW3.
Here’s how you enter. You may want to grab a pen and paper to write down this:
Post in the comment section below.
That’s it, that’s all you have to do. Post below and you will automatically be entered for a chance to win. In the comment, tell us your favorite game of the year so far (or if you don’t have one that’s fine, tell us that), and specify which system you would prefer a copy for. If you have both consoles and have no preference, cool, just let us know. This offer is open to U.S. residents only.
The contest will run from now until Monday, November 28 at 5pm PST. Once a winner has been chosen, we will contact them and let them know, then the game will be sent to them courtesy of Blockbuster Video.
Blockbuster would also like extend a special offer to those that tie for second place (which will be everyone but the two winners). If you purchase a copy of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from Blockbuster either online or through Blockbuster’s brick and mortar locations, you will receive one free month of unlimited movie and game rentals. For more info on the Blockbuster deal, follow the link www.blockbuster.com/codmw3 for details.
But for this contest just post below and tell us your system preference, let us know what games you’ve been digging this year, and you will automatically be entered to win.
Good luck!
[Update: We are also running a contest to giveaway a copy of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. For details on how to win that game, click here.]
Saints Row 3…thats what my son wrote on his list for Santa. It had several stars next to it…so I guess its pretty important! LOL xbox 360 Have Merry Christmas Everyone!
Xbow 360 best so far Call of Duty:MW3 PS3
I don’t normally play games so I don’t have a favorite but my sons do. I have heard them mention that they would love this game for the Xbox.
My favorite game of the year so far is Elder Scroll V: Skyrim. I can get absolutely lost in that game, the amount of content, the various quests and all the different characters. The rich history of the game world and the plethora of books to read. Yeah, definitely Skyrim. That having been said, this is the other game I wanted this season, and I’d want it for PS3.
In Call of Duty Infinity Ward has proven time and time again to me that they can only engage in entertaining multiplayer with constantly improving game and reward mechanics; they have also proven to me that they have what it takes to tell a gripping and meaningful story. I didn’t need to be told to take the shot at the end of MW1, I was so pissed off I needed to take that shot. Speaking of one, I was so enthralled with the dying scene of the marine that I thought my movements were actually scripted, it wasn’t until a few other playthroughs that I realized I could control his movements in the end; I had forgotten I was playing a game.
Time to put on my brown-nosing swag… Although, I love the stream of updates I get from you guys through facebook, I’d have to say the real highlight is listening to Ryan Fleming every Monday on Cort and Fatboy. I’m glad you stayed on through the transition and look forward to your news and reviews!
