Behold, we have two codes to giveaway for Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection, the remastered collection that contains two games originally released on the Wii, now available as one downloadable offering via the PlayStation Network.
The collection features 2007’s Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, as well as 2009’s Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. Both titles originally appeared exclusively on the Wii, but Capcom has thrown on a shiny new coat of paint and released them into the wild for PS3 owners to experience.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles was released between Resident Evil 4 and RE5, and it retells the events of earlier games from the point-of-view of Albert Wesker and an Umbrella Corp scientist, filling in gaps up through RE3: Nemesis.
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles was released after Resident Evil 5, but like its companion it retells earlier events, this time through the eyes of Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy.
If you are a fan of the series—and not just the games, but the overall mythology created by Capcom for the Resident Evil universe—then both titles are musts to learn more about what is going on.

Siren for the PS2 is my favorite.
Resident Evil 2 on the PS1 completely changed the way I viewed video games, and terrified the crap out of me. On top of that it changed the way I viewed films. It was RE2 that prompted me to find Romero’s original Night of The Living Dead and move on from there through zombie film.
Has to be Fatal Frame or Siren. Both are to scary to play in the dark alone.
An old game… Seventh Guest.
Resident Evil Code Veronica! I remember playing this over at my cousin’s on his dreamcast. I finished it in 2 days! It’s the last “old-school” Resident Evil unfortunately :(
It’s not really a horror game, but Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne is pretty close. My favorite RPG of all time.
The original Fatal Frame will hold a special place in my scarred heart.
The original Silent Hill.
Resident Evil 4 is fantastic and definately my favourite! It basically got me back into gaming on the PS2 back in 2005. 10/10 if ever one should be rewarded to a game :). I hope the Cronicles HD Collection is more of the same of this level of quality gaming!
My favorite survival horror game is Dino Crisis. I love how it managed to replace zombies with something not commonly seen in horror games: DINOSAURS! Shame the third game basically killed the series.
Never played REmake, so I would have to pick the original Resident Evil. It was slow-paced where very encounter is made special. Who can ever forget the dogs crashing through the windows???
RESIDENT EVIL 3 ! ! !
The digital artistry and shadow mapping fused with film-noire style cinematics of Gamecube’s rebirthing of the original Resident Evil game ranks closest to gaming perfection in my book.
For me it was the DS game 999. There was just a sense of uneasiness that surrounds the entire game. When the knife ending occurred, I was absolutely terrified. I knew what was gonna happen before it did, but when it did, my heart was beating so fast! Everybody should try the game!
The remake of the original Resident Evil for the Gamecube. It’s the best and scariest game in the series. I just replayed it again two weeks ago and it did not disappoint. It still is awesometacular.
There are only a few horror franchises that belong in the canon of great video game franchises, and Silent Hill is certainly one of them. Each time we venture back into this mysterious, trippy, horrifying locale, we find ourselves fascinated by the brilliant creation of the monsters and the creepy atmosphere. These things, coupled with a magnificent score and engaging plot, make the Silent Hill series a must-own for fans of the horror genre. And especially Silent Hill 2. None of the other entries in the series have been able to put together such a complete package. I guarantee when you play this game, you will see some stuff that you would never expect to see in a video game.
I Would have to say Resident evil 1,2,and 3
My name is Kalib Garrett and I think that the best Survival Horror game of all time would have to be Resident Evil 3! Resident evil 1 and 2 were both great games as well but Resident Evil 3 takes the cake! Nemesis I think was one of the greatest Bosses of all time! I would be sitting in my room by myself playing RE3 when all of a sudden the Nemesis music would start playing and he would yell “S.T.A.R.S.” and that would just freak me out and I would take a break or turn the lights on! That being said, Resident Evil 3 is and will always be the best Survival Horror game for me! Also can’t wait for Resident Evil 6, IT’S GOING TO BE SOOOOOOO AWESOME….CAN’T WAIT ! ! !
Resident Evil is the best horror series to date….intense action, great guns, horror…what more could you ask for in a perfect game? People say Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City sucks….but really they don’t know how to shoot I thought it was a perfect game like 1,2,3,4,5 & soon 6.
I don’t think my comment stuck so I’ll just post one more just in case: Resident Evil original
Now I know this might be a “loose” example, but I always felt like Kings Field games as fantasy “survival horror”, Demons Souls, Dark Souls etc., but specifically the Kings Field games. Absolute best series ever made (in my opinion). To give an example everyone would understand though – original Resident Evil. I know other great survival horror games out there, but Resident Evil was great (even with the bad voice acting).
silent hill even that game got a on rail shooter game
Resident Evil Remake on the GameCube
Resident Evil Remake for GameCube
If we’re going based primarily on a single game, then I have to go with Dino Crisis. The first installment had me terrified from the beginning. Something about being 6 years old and running away from dinosaurs in a dark, isolated corner of the world, is scary. I’ll never forget the first time that T-rex roared his ugly head in through the giant window, moments after completing an objective. That was nightmarish.
To me the scariest game ever is Fatal Frame 2. Very frightening game! Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks for this contest! The scariest game that I love is Fatal Frame 2. Very frightening!
RE2 baby!!!
silent hill 4 the room
forgot to say thanks for the chance to win…Silent Hill so scary.
Silent Hill literally scared me outta bed…good times.
My favorite would have to be Resident Evil Remake for the GameCube for the amazing graphics for it’s time and the fact it so flawlessly remade most likely the game that really started the survival horror genre.
I hope they remaster THAT game for PSN! : )
Resident Evil 2 and then the remake of the original on Gamecube. That game was awesome.
One would think horror games are impossible on a portable. Dementium: The Ward proved doubters wrong. while the story was weak, the game had an impressive creepy atmosphere.
Silent Hill 2. Still the peak of the series.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Any Resident Evil.
fave survival horror: alone in the dark
Good luck everyone!
I guess i haven’t played much in this category because Resident Evil on the GameCube is the only game that stands out. RE4 great game.. not so much survivor/horror. The rest… i guess I haven’t played or are inferior.
Leaving a comment now!
Me!
This is not the easiest category to narrow down for me. I am a HUGE fan of the Dead Space series. These games have given me countless hours of fun. And not just on the 360. I ventured into the world of Wii for this series, so you know I’m serious about it. And, yes, my S2 has the android version.
That said, Silent Hill (disappointments and all) has never failed to get my heart racing. Of course, there was F.E.A.R. (along with it’s bastard offshoots). But F.E.A.R. 3 ruined it for me. And no one should ever overlook The Thing. Dated and clunky for sure, but it still manages to deliver.
But there is one all-time favorite that I can never say enough great things about. One game that seems to be a perfect combination of all of them (including Resident Evil). It has a varied collection of critters, interesting challenges, and great set pieces. From the decks of a ship whose purpose I never fully understood (whaling? laboratory? munitions transport? hell on the high seas?) to an oil platform and below, Cold Fear delivers the goods.
Resident Evil.
I know when I had it for the first playstation, I was so afraid to go around a corner that I just shut the game off. XD
It was awesome though.
Also a big big big fan of the movies as well.
Silent Hill. Hearing things in the mist without seeing them…shudder!
Resident Evil series!!! Specially part 1
I do like the Resident Evil series…good storyline, many games, quality. Silent Hill is also right up there!
Resident Evil 4 on the Wii.
Resident Evil 3, the combining system was so much fun in that game
I’ve played quite a few survival horror games in my names. Both good and bad. I didn’t get to fully lose myself in Resident Evil 1 on the Playstation since at the time I was merely watching my Uncle play it. But when I started Resident Evil 2 all by my lonesome, it was a different story. Now it’s my favorite Resident Evil game, maybe because it was technically my first but still the scariest game that holds dear to my heart that seriously scared me like mad and even had a hard time to finish it which still took a long time is, Fatal Frame. There was just something about this one game that felt more authentic that scared me. Maybe because I was raised in a more spiritual way (not religion wise) which contributed to this feeling. The game had an amazing atmosphere at the time and also the same camera controls like earlier Resident Evil games (which I liked yet everyone hated it). So this particular game still holds a place in my heart even after these many years of how it aged. It’s simply put, one of my all time favorite scariest games of my childhood.
RE 4, Wii Edition was one of the best times i’ve had. I wish they had patched RE5 to work with the move, instead of requiring me to buy the Gold edition. Oh well though…
Penumbra series, only game I have played that I thought actually felt like a horror game instead of a shooter. Resident Evil isnt scary in my opinion. but it is a lot of fun lol.
Resident evil 2 is by far my most favorite, RE2 is what made me fall for the survival horror genre and while many others are top in my list the overall mythos put into the series has kept me wanting for more.
Bad thing is I sold all my games years ago when my son was born and have just restarted collecting again.
My favorite was Nightmare Creatures 2 on Dreamcast.
My favorite of all time (oldie but goodie) is Clive Barker’s Undying. Great scary atmosphere.
While Resident Evil will always be near and dear to my heart, Hell, It’s the reason I bought the original Playstation in the first place, I’ve come to enjoy other Survival Horror games like Clock Tower and the Fatal Frame series. Plus, one I would call a hidden PS2 gem “Kuon”, a classic Resident Evil type game (i.e. controls, fixed camera angles, limited supplies, creepy mansion) set during the Heian Period of ancient Japan.
Resident Evil Remake for the GameCube. The very first survival horror game I had ever played. I remember the very first time playing it, it was midnight in my basement with all the lights out and i was scared out of my mind. I kept thinking something was creeping up behind me, or that something was around the corner. Didn’t sleep a wink that night. It was definitely a memorable experience I’ll never forget.
As a girl gamer I feel much more attracted to the subtle horror of Silent Hill, but in terms of cheesy b-movie action and dialogue I absolutely love Resident Evil!
Thank you very much for the chance to win!
Sorry Resident Evil games, but Silent Hill games all the way.
Bioshock is probably my favorite survival horror game, if it can be considered that. It’s more of a FPS/RPG hybrid with survival horror elements but the combat is really fun and the story telling is amazing.
I think Amnesia might be the best survival horror game. Scarce ammo is scary. No weapons is horrifying. I like both though :)
Not trying to knock on Resident Evil games which are awesome, but I prefer Silent Hill Games.
Not trying to knock on Resident Evil games which are awesome, but I prefer Silent Hill Games. There’s something about not having any weapons and trying to survive with what you have that always gets me.
