Mark your calendars, set your alarms: Microsoft has announced it will release the Xbox 360 gaming console in the U.S. on November 22.
On the eve of the Tokyo Game Show 2005, Microsoft unveiled release dates for its highly-anticipated Xbox 360 gaming console:
- Tuesday, November 22 in North America
- Friday, December 2 in Europe
- Saturday December 10 in Japan
The release will mark the first time a gaming system has been rolled out so quickly in major worldwide markets. Microsoft also revealed that Xbox 360 manufacturing is already underway, with millions of units expected to be available in target markets on scheduled release dates.
Microsoft also claims publishers are putting the finishing touches on games for the new console system, with more than 200 Xbox 360 games in development and many titles which should be available in time for the system’s introduction.
Microsoft also revealed the Japanese pricing for Xbox 360 systems, setting a price tag of ¥37,900 (approx US $344) for the fully-loaded Xbox 360 system with 20 GB detachable hard drive, wireless controller, media remote, headset, and HD-AV cable, although actual retail prices may vary. Microsoft previously announced a $299 price for a base Xbox 360 system, with the fully-loaded system priced at $399.
