The latest Deals with Gold for Xbox Live Gold subscribers is up, via Microsoft’s Major Nelson, offering a new set of deep discounts on some of the popular titles in the Xbox Games Store.

On the Xbox One side, you can grab Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for a whopping 67-percent off. One of 2013’s most critically acclaimed games, Lara Croft’s rebooted saga drops in price with plenty of time before the scheduled holiday 2015 release of its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider. You can also pick up console launch title Ryse: Son of Rome Legendary Edition at a 40-percent discount for a visually-rich, Roman bloodbath. And if that’s all still too prosaic for you, more fantastical adventures await in Dragon Age: Inquisition, available at 40-percent off in both its standard and Deluxe editions.

Xbox 360 owners are being treated to a hearty helping of historical murder fantasia with three Assassin’s Creed games available for 50-percent off their usual price. Assassin’s Creed III took the franchise over to the New World in pre-revolution America. Assassin’s Creed” Revelations concluded the story of Assassin’s Creed II‘s Ezio. And Assassin’s Creed started the whole series, setting a model for third-person, open-world, action/stealth games that still casts a large shadow (of Mordor) today.

Check out Major Nelson’s post for the full list of discounts. They are available to all Xbox Live Gold subscribers from now until March 16, 2015.

An Xbox controller sits on a floor next to a stack on Xbox One games.

Xbox and Windows 10 users are in for a big week as Microsoft releases more than 20 new games for both platforms. RPGs, platformers, and sports games are all part of the mix, so there's something for everyone. Here are a few highlights.
Necromunda: Underhive Wars
This game is a tactical-RPG and the first video game adaption of the popular tabletop strategy board game. The player develops gangs with different powers and attributes and sends them to fight each other against the backdrop of a dystopian landscape.

Necromunda: Underhive Wars will also support 4-player online gang fights. It releases on September 7 and is available for pre-order for $32. After release, it will cost $40.
The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu
The Star Wars Sims Game Pack is here, and players will get the chance to choose their faction. The game features missions to help players move up in the ranks, and famous characters from the Star Wars universe will make appearances. The game requires a copy of The Sims 4 and will be available on Mac, PC, Steam, Xbox One, and PS4 on September 8.
Golf Zero
In the mood for a cute indie platformer reminiscent of Super Meat Boy? Golf Zero is 80 levels of platforming fun where the main character has to avoid hazards like saw blades, bullets, and boulders while trying to sink a putt. It has a fun throwback style and requires precision and timing. The game releases September 9 on Xbox One.
CarX Drift Racing Online
Drifting is the name of the game in this racing simulator. Play online with Xbox Live with matches ranging from 2 to 16 players. The game features crisp visuals, sweet locales, and a lot of drifting-induced tire smoke. There are more than 50 cars and 100 complete body kits, as well as countless customization options. The game will be available for Xbox One on September 8 for $30.
The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon
Fans of The Outer Worlds are in luck as the game's first expansion will release September 9 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The new content follows Minnie Ambrose in a detective adventure, where players are tasked with finding out more about Dr. Olivia Ambrose.

Microsoft confirms Xbox Live isn’t going anywhere anytime soon

Microsoft made an important change the other day to its service agreement, replacing mention of Xbox Live with Xbox online service. We reached out to the company regarding this change, and here's what one of its spokespersons had to say.

"The update to 'Xbox online service' in the Microsoft Services Agreement refers to the underlying Xbox service that includes features like cross-saves and friend requests. This language update is intended to distinguish that underlying service, and the paid Xbox Live Gold subscription. There are no changes being made to the experience of the service or Xbox Live Gold."

Microsoft stops selling 12-month subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold
Xbox X Controller.

Microsoft has quietly stopped selling 12-month subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold, hinting at something in the works for the service following the announcement of bundling Project xCloud to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

The Microsoft Store for the Xbox One is now only selling one-month and three-month subscriptions to Xbox Live Gold, which enables online multiplayer capabilities and offers free games to download every month. The removal of the 12-month subscription was initially thought to be an error, but it was confirmed in a statement to Digital Trends.
