Don’t waist your time with the scenic options, Maryland has one of the oldest scenic Rt40 East/West. I have tried all the options including the new 1.2 software. the Navigon refuses to see it.
This is what I’m writing in all the reviews and forums I can find. Your product is not delivering what it says. I am very disappointed.

The GPS takes forever to locate after it turns on. This happens almost every time it goes into standby mode. Pushing the reset buttom will locates the GPS sometimes but it easily loses the signal shortly after.
If you are looking for a good GPS, look else where, don’t fall for other positive reviews online. I’ve had this unit for 2 days and am unable to use it due to lack of signals and I’m in a city of 380,000 people.

First of all, I believe Patrice’s review is based on 2100, not 2100 max. They are not the same at all. The scenic option he mentioned is not available on 2100 max.
Now it my turn. I only have 3 complains; slow route calculation, low number of POI, and flimsy holding mechanism. I’ve been testing this unit with Garmin 760 side by side for a few days. I really like 760′s fast route calculation and 6M POI, but that’s pretty much it. On the other hand, I like the Lane Assistance with Reality view, higher resolution screen, and option to select what POIs are displayed along the road I’m driving.
Some people don’t like having too much information shown, but Gamin has none. Only when I do extreme zoon, am I able to see small number of tiny icons along around my area.

This is in reference to the 2100max. Purchased at Costco for 199.00 reduced by 100. Great price and good unit until you want to go to a specific POI,i.e., major department store or restaurant. If you don’t know the exact address of POI chances are very good that this unit will not know how to get you there. I called Navigon and their support person was rude and not very helpful. His excuse for GPS not being able to find many well known stores/restaurants locations was that Navigon had not received permission from each of these companies. My conclusion was they had not purchased the proper data base. I returned this GPS and bought a Garmin. The Garmin is a good unit and gets us to almost any address or POI requested. However, if Garmin and Navigon combined forces and each good feature they would have an unbeatable unit.

Good when it works, we had a fatal application error 2 weeks before going on a 3 month tour of Europe, the sole reason for buying this product, and have received extremely poor support after sending the product back to Germany. Emails taking 3 days to reply, no returns on phone calls. Now we have to spend our vacation with out the help of a Navigon, don’t buy one!!

2100 Max looks great but will not take Map updates because it needs a software update per the loading msg. When the software update is attempted the msg tells you the 2100 Max arrived with updated software – so you are in the loop and unable to update the maps. Sent tech support an email and after 4 days no response, tried calling the company at the number on the box 1-888-848-0701 and it tells you to file your problems on line and the will respond with a fix or warranty – putting you in another loop because the Tech folks do not respond. Just replace it or return my money!
