John at 11:40pm 25th March 2011 Amazon has a larger library than both zune and iTunes so saying that a device is better than another because because of the companies marketplace size is absurd because neither come near the size of library you get just purchasing CDs or using amazon. Let's keep the debates about the devices. Saying the ipod is better because of the apps is dumb as well. Being and iPhone user i can say 90 percent of the apps are a waste of time I mostly use it for quick web browsing on the fly. Individuals may debate saying the iPod has games and things that are fun may be their personal preference but I would never spend 200$ and higher to play angry birds I would rather pit that cash to a console or to a pc of sorts to play games on. The apps are a joke As far as which device triumphs in cost and practicality and technical specs there is no question the zune is the victor.

(I play cod zombies on my iPod touch and splinter cell, dead space, and more!) so what if zune's screen has better quality. It's all about size. Why look cool but be so small. iPod touch has lots of updates for its iOS. Plus iPod touch 4gen has a camera. Zune has nothing. iPod touches have built in speakers. Camera for video and pics. So many people have iPods that when you get a zune and your dating someone who has an iPod touch you can't do apps together. No video chat or app to app games. Who needs to use a iPod touch or zune for over 3 hours without it plugged in? Why not plug it in when your home or in the car so battery life! Haha who cares. Zune softwear is SLOW! iTunes is fast and better. ITunes music and movie choices are more then zune. More apps then zune. iPod touches have better sizes. Got a little kid like 6,7, or 8? Get them an iPod touch 8gig. They don't need much room. iPod touches connect to iPhone (sprint (I think) and verizon) iPod touches 1-4gen and iPads. Plus zune softwear can't work on apples computers but iTunes can work on all computers. Most people have been using iTunes since forever and have all their music on it. Why switch to zune and screw all your stuff up? Plus while zune hd is new and all apples is comming up with a new and better thing to beat it. So waist money on zune hd while I'll have the new and better iPod touch. IPOD TOUCH AND APPLES FOREVER!!!!!!

Ricardo at 11:52pm 25th March 2011 Speaking about the size you do realize that htc hd7 using zune software for the media player has a 4.3 inch screen and the samsung infuse will have a 4.5 inch screen and my laptop has a 17 inch screen and my tv has. 42 inch screen so why complain about .2 inches you do realize how minuscule that is right? Both have good points and bad. But saying the zine has nothing regarding .2 inches is like saying my car is faster than yours because it has a quarter of a horse more. Or that one house is nicer than another because they planted five more flowers in the front yard. Well let me burst your bubble, Apple was NEVER the first to invent the first mp3 player so it just copied others like Audio Highway who brought out the first mp3 player, then South Korea-based Saehan Information Systems, then Diamond Multimedia with the Rio, Compaq, Creative and wait for it........ then Apple finally did in 2001! Yeah maybe made it look all pretty on the outside but nothing special on the inside, just another fashion accessory! That's why Apple is not as great as everyone thinks!!!!

Yeah the zune hd is sweet (wouldn't mind owning one) but i have to lean towards apple on this one. the zune has a VERY small selection of apps (where 95% of their app are as worthless as apples) and the ipod, even though some are stupid, theres still like what? 50,000ish apps to choose from. to me a lot of which one you like better has a lot to do with what mp3 player you've previously owned.

There are way more apps on the iPod touch. Somewhere around 250,000. Even if there are way too many useless apps, Infinity blade, for instance, provides true gaming on a pocket-sized device. And no, I can't list all the great games, but i can give you a few: Pocket Legends, Infinity Blade, Call of duty, Racing Live, Rock Band Reloaded, and that's only a slight few! And to those that say the Zune is better for music, well, I have to say the iPod Touch plays the best music I have ever heard! And once I told a Zune fanboy that the iPod had a better browser and a camera, he said get a laptop and a digital camera. Can you fit a laptop and a camera in your pocket? Last time I checked, the answer was no. And the price, the ipod gives you way more "bang" for your buck. Keep your zunes, but I'm staying with my 4th gen iPod Touch 32gb that I wrote this comment with.

While the differences in sound quality are discreet, you saying "the iPod Touch plays the best music you have ever heard" is a perfect example of "apple fanboys not supporting their facts." I'm torn between the two devices, mainly because I want 32 GB but there's a $70 difference between the two. I may end up going with the Zune HD simply because I do not use iTunes, nor do I have plans to (tried it many times in my life, but never liked it - Winamp suits my tastes much better). I may, however, obtain an iPhone or similar Android phone in the future to handle all my organization, gaming and other miscellaneous tasks. For now, though, I may just stick with what's simple and cheaper. I'm a poor college student, so these choices will decide whether I eat something decent tomorrow night, or have to microwave another package of ramen noodles and pop a Vitamin C tablet. :P

If one loses battery life switch to the other while the dead one is charging. Zune has fun games and Ipod has great apps, to many to count or to download for that matter. Also, they both are not easy to break, you can throw them down a 10 story building and they both survive. It's amazing!! Great products, just buy one and deal with it, be glad your not someone that has to buy a cheap mp3 player with no display and only 1 gb memory. seriously. :)

They don't listen to music as much as they play games and browes the web. The new Zune hd as web and runs faster. My dad has a iphone and the internet sucks. The ipod touch is so much similar to the iphone that you might as well get a iphone. You just can't call on the ipod touch. My dad listens to his iphone rather than his zune just because he has his iphone on him all the time. If you don' have a phone get a zune hd. When you drive or on the go and what to listen to music zune hd is the choice. I am not a zune hd fan or a ipod touch fan,but I want to go with what will benifit me the most. I think the Zune hd will wor for me. I just think that the ipod touch is expensive and won't last as long has the zune hd. My brother has had his for 3 years now and runs perfect!

Sure the I-pod touch has apps,but sooner or later you will get bord with them. With the zune hd you get unlimited music and Micorsoft will come out with more apps. You get a nargain with the zune hd. Are you afraid to go different then or friend? nIf you loe msic the Zune hd is the way to go. For the ipod touch is that the music is so expensive. If you like music,but you want to go with what yor friends are doing you will regret it because sometime you will spend you know like 2000 dollars for 2000 songs or more depending on the song. Sometime you will get bord with game on the ipod touch so why not go with the one that will benifit you more. My whole family has zunes and they love them! I had owned both the iPod Touch and the Zune HD, and, in the end, I chose the iPod touch. No, not because I was "following the crowd", or that I wanted to look "trendy". I chose it for its features THAT I USE, it's lifetime capabilities THAT I USE, and its overall integrity. Reviewing all the comments to this terribly biased review, I have noticed that the Zune HD "fanboys" seem to have no true evidence into why they think that their mp3 is better. Yet, a 16GB Zune HD is on sale for $180 while a 8GB iPod Touch is on sale for $200. Personally, if Apple would drop the price of a 16GB iPod Touch to $180-$200 then I would buy it. But there are so many reviews and opinions about them both that is making my decision is LOT harder to make.

33. ridiculous at 5:38pm 18th July 2010 What a biased review. As far as price goes, the 8gb iTouch is way more expensive than it should be, but the 64gb and 32gb are near identical in price. Software wise the iTouch is far better, and for reasons the author himself stated. He said Apple forces you to buy individual songs for 0.99, while you can download any 10 a month on the Zune for $15 monthly. Did you fail math in elementary school? Becase 10 songs for $15 is more than the 'outrageous' price of a 0.99 iTunes song. The iTouch IS better, just because it is more mainstream doesn't make it worse, there is a reason it's sold 10 times better than any Zune product ever made.

Ill make a list of things Music: Both are to be paid for, but limewire can also be used to download illegally. As for quality, I cant compare Screen: Zune wins for quality, but ipod touch wins for size and speed. I feel that it pinpoints the tap faster then a zune can Wireless: I have yet to use the wifi, but on the ipod touch, its considerably quick. Entertainment: For this, I would have to say ipod touch. It has an app store full of thousands of apps, moving from Americas most wanted, to a dog whistle to help train your dog, too tap tap revenge. Zune, on the other hand (heard from my brother) only has sixteen apps at the moment. Overall winner: I vote ipod. They both have WIFI, but the bigger screen and the amount of apps result in having the ipod touch better. Thats just my opinion though. Feel free to comment on this one so I can compare

It is state of the art and will always be the best choice! I've had both devices (touch and zune hd) and I can say zune is off the chain! I love zune and I'm really tired of hearing I this I that! Granted, I was already a little biased toward the Zune because I've heard about a few things Apple has done. (Like having a program in your computer that scans your files to see what music you like.) I looked through several sites and ended up buying the Zune. I'm going to have to agree with this article, it was much better. While it doesn't have many apps, those aren't really the important thing in a music player. Besides, when I got it, I was thrilled to find out that the applications were free. I'd much rather have a few free apps than lots of apps I had to pay for. The Zune is much better overall. (I'd also like to mention that I absolutely HATE it when someone refers to any MP3 player as an iPod. No, I don't have an "iPod." I have a Zune, an MP3 player which I decided is ultimately better.)

Also, he mentioned the app store in the article on Page 2 under "App Support." I agree the whole 75,000 apps is silly, but those 500 useful apps put the ipod far ahead of the zune in terms of functionality (especially when jailbroken, something that cannot be done on a zune). In addition, if you think that the iphone games are all variations of guitar hero then you should do some research. Some iphone games already look as good as psp games -> see Firemint's Real Racing and the game selection is more varied than the XBOX live marketplace games (im sure you are aware that the zune will not be able to play true xbox games).

Nothing, not even an error report. There is an iTunes icon in the taskbar, but the program itself doesn't show. 93. my opinion at 8:06pm 15th March 2010 I was recently deciding between a zune hd and an ipod touch. I ended up with a 32gb ipod touch. The zune hd may be a better mp3 and video player and it has an fm radio so if you that is all you want, then by all means get the zune. Now lets look at what i currently have on my jailbroken touch:
    
    1- how about the collective sum of human knowledge- see wiki2touch (jailbroken), or encyclopedia (app store)- download all of wikipedia on to your device for offline viewing
    2- nes, gba, playstation emulators as well as an n64 and SNES emulator that have bluetooth WII-MOTE SUPPORT and may soon have PS3 controller support
    3- Remote Desktop- self explanatory
    4- check out xGPS- an app that lets you download google maps. I have the google map of my entire city- 16 zoom levels (only 100 mb). You can download a map of pretty much anywhere.
    5- ebook reader, web radio, full dictionary, google earth, comic book reader (.cbr and .cbz files), a new york times app that automatically downloads the latest news so i can read anywhere.
    6- the games are great- check out NOVA, one of the best mobile fps, Plants vs. Zombies, Need for Speed, GTA chinatown wars, etc...
    
    Lets see what is coming soon to the ipod:
    Core Player 2.0- will allow the touch to play back nearly any video and audio file type (xvid, divx, flv, etc..)
    Novell is releasing software that allows easy conversion of xbox 360 XNA games to the ipod touch.
    More and more games- i have heard that there are more developers making games for the ipod touch then the psp and ds combined
    For fun, check out the icontrolpad.
    
    Anyways, the point is that the ipod offers a heck of a lot of functionality (even more so if jailbroken which i found to be surprisingly risk free). If all you want if a portable mp3/video player then the zune is probably a better choice. If you want a pocket-able computer, get the ipod touch. Also, i wouldn't get your hopes up too much for more zune hd apps. Microsoft will be releasing the windows 7 phone and zune hd 2(not sure) which will be running a different operating system and they will be likely focusing on these new platforms, but thats just a guess (well they already announced the zune hd wont support the new XNA 4.0).

I know that Apple has a huge lead in the department because the iPod Touch is in its third generation, while the Zune HD is first generation. However, anyone who needs an mp3 player soon is not going to wait for Zune to catch up with their app selection, they'll just buy an iPod Touch. Also, the Touch has a built-in speaker.      -Youtube
     -Caledar that syncs with my google calendar
     -Dictionary (which is usable offline)
     -Twitter app
     
     I use my touch more for other things than music, and I listen to music a ton. The apps are the type of thing that you can't live without until you start using them.
     
     PS: And, the only app I listed that cost money is TextFree. Also, I didn't mention any games, which are actually GOOD on the iPod touch (ign.com has a whole section of their site devoted to iPhone games).

And there may be some useful apps that are actually needed like e-mail and organizer related apps, but the fact is you can do all of this on like a blackberry or an iPhone. A iPhone is basically like an iPod Touch, but it is different if you are a buisness person and use it all in one, but an iPod Touch and Zune are for listening to music and watch videos, not check your e-mail and stuff. So if you have a newer phone or going to get one, I am pretty sure your phone will be the one you check your e-mail with and stuff like that instead of going on your iPod Touch and connecting to a Wi-Fi and checking it from there. I have had an iPod for 3 years (Like I said earlier), but a Zune is cheaper, it is slightly smaller, and is more of a music player (Mp3 Player). So I am done now talking about this because people are just so stupid and no matter what I or ANYONE else says, they won't understand. But when you buy things, you should look into the specs and features that best suite your needs. Also about your other point, what if people are trying to *Jailbreak it* (In Apple terms)? They might be trying, might not be. The fact is we don't know. I would guess and am pretty sure that someone IS trying to jailbreak it, but the fact is Microsoft made a better base and security and it is MUCH harder to hack. The iPod is not made well (in the inside) and people could hack it easily and they still cannot figure out how to stop it (which is kind of sad in my opinion.) I will bring up the PS3 again. A PS3 has been out for many years now (about 4 now?) and there is still no easy, soft hack that does not require to mess with the inside of your system. So you cannot hack that. So, think about the facts..people have no life and most likley, someone, somewhere around the world has tried or is trying to hack a Zune right now..

     Seriously. Software is a draw? Gee, I wonder if you have actually used a Zune HD or whether you're just looking at some specification tables. the iPod touch is intant to open a calculator. The Zune HD takes around 15(!) seconds. I'll even admit it, the Zune HD has better hardware, but it's Apple's software that makes it stand above all else. And the App Store is a VERY big feature of the Apple iPod touch. 3 billion downloads!!! I wonder if the Zune HD will ever even rack up 100,000 in its whole life span? It's doubtable.
     
     Try getting a reasonably cheap Zune HD Dock with built in FM Radio and Alarm Clock. There are over 500 different models compatable with the iPod touch. They said that accessories will just come over time. I can say for sure that they won't. There are too many MS fan boys on the internet, but I assume that is just normal.
     
     In conclusion, don't bother actually taking this comparison into account when considering which one to buy. Yes, the Zune HD has its trumps and so do the iPod touch, but just try one where LITERALLY EVERYTHING is biased towards MS.

Sure, it has 90,000 apps, 10,000 times more than the Zune, but who the hell cares? There are only 1000 of those apps that are actually worth it! Zune is a breath of fresh air. A Zoom?" is because they're not stupid. Plus, they're a little scared and cautious. Give it a couple of years, Zune is in 1G, Ipod is in 3GS, but the Zune has already beat it, minus the app lack. In a few years, when a thirteen year old english kid can afford a Zune HD, it'll be better. Besides, Microsoft has the advantage. They have the Xbox 360. And Windows. Put them together in the shape of the Zune, and the iPod won't know what hit it.

220. Hello at 5:12am 13th December 2009 For me, apps can matter. I am not a person who listens to music or watch too many videos. I am some kind of blogger and I need to type out my posts on the go. The ipod touch has aided me in that aspect, there is a free app on app store that allows you to edit word documents, and there is also an app that is a dictionary and thesaurus, I think the keyboard is big and easy to type on. There is also stanza, that app lets you download free e-books(some of them are free, not all). And the games are also good. I only downloaded the free stuff though.

Zune only offers there software for Windows PC while iTunes is available on Macs and PC. That is a key point that you failed to make and should have easily gave Apple the upper hand. I was also disappointed that you didn't compare them as far as how easy each one is to use. I think you need to do some more hand-on-hand research on stay away from what you read on the internet. 2/5 stars.

But, I did find the lack of audible support ridiculous. I primarily use my mp3 player for podcasts, listening to my own ripped music, etc... Coincidentally, it lacked audible support also. It would've been nice to listen to books also, but hey, you get used to not having everything you want. But, I would've thought that since MS wanted a I-touch killer, they would've included this in the formula. The screen and the wireless syncing are the 2 real reasons I'm getting zune over touch. but you asked for a reason. I couldn't resist giving you one. :-)

If your using a standard mp3 player that cost $20 you can get rhapsody for $15 a month and have unlimited music available at your disposal and share with other mp3. With ipod crap you have to buy all the music. Zune, you can buy music but you can only share (with the very small amount of other owners) songs for 3 times then the other guy has to buy it. There both a rip off if you’re looking at the actual usage of an mp3 player. For $300+ I should have any headaches. I want music when I want it. Download when I want it and keep what I want without paying an arm and a leg. So I guess unless I want a bunch of other bells and whistles I can try and figure out between the 2, but if I just want music, I can spend $20 and have more options available than a $300 toy box. These two monster companies and this is the best either can do???... What a shame.

I am VERY Impressed. I currently own the zune 80 GB and I want a nicer display so I will buy the Zune HD. Microsoft can design better than any company. Apple had to make their products compatible with windows so a lot of people can buy it. True that Apple has 75,000+ apps, but most of them are useless with about 1000 of them the same thing. All of the Zune's apps are actually something that you can use. And there's no 5,000 versions of the same app. Plus the zune has a better screen, better sound quality (with some better headphones than the ones microsoft or apple gives you), a radio, FREE games, and much more. This is microsoft's first generation of a touchscreen PMP and already! it competes with apple's THIRD generation of a PMP. If you would compare microsoft's first gen zune hd with apple's first gen touch, it would be very clear to see which company can make the better PMP.

283. mrchop at 7:53pm 26th November 2009 I got a Zune HD 16gb a while ago and must say I love it. I had an iPod Touch for a while, but became sick of iTunes and their policies. (I actually pay for music and didn't find iTunes fair for purchases.) Once you go Apple, they make it a total b*tch to go back. I'm lucky I got out of using iTunes this early or I would have wasted more the the $80 I did on music that's no-good on any other platform or player. The Zune HD is a VERY solid device to have. The screen is perfect for movies. (yes I watch them on little devices) AudioSurf is the perfect game for a media player and the visuals are impeccable. The music store is great, but is lacking somewhat in artist quantity. Music quality is awesome, but no FLAC or OGG support leaves me a bit disappointed. The internet surfing and application store are a total meh-fest for now, but all I really wanted was music and video at high quality. The battery life makes it a must-have for long rides. I absolutely love the interface after a little while to get used to it. To be honest I can't see myself going back to the apple regime. I don't really want to.

(really better in those aspects.) if you wanna play N.O.V.A (my favorite ipod touch app, really cool graphics) go for ipod touch. it is really based on personal preference. if i had the money, i will buy a 32gb zunehd for my music and videos, then i will buy an 8gb ipod touch for apps, games, and internet browsing only. they are both good so stop comparing them

I resisted ipod until I had to give in as nothing else could compare with the size and ecosystem the apple/nano offered. Now finally there is an alternative. I was considerating a touch but the zune HD is a compelling option.
     
     All this talk of which is better is really just matter of preference or intended use. If you are only interested in pmp, then clearly zune is a better package. If you already spend 10 a month in itunes, then 5 more gets you unlimited access to explore new music without risk, plus you get to keep 10 songs each month (based on the review anyway)
     If you want a pocket pc that surfs the web, plays games and apps in addition to playing music then the ipod is a better value. If the zune had bluetooth as the 3G touch now has, my decision would be made. Unwired headphones has been such an important feature for me, I use my nano with a dongle not to have to deal with tangled wires. Either way the existence and success of the zune will only benefit ipod fans, forcing apple to continue it's innovations so everyone wins if zune HD succeeds.

Instead, microsoft had to be so greedy and only offer 4 apps, which are apps that the ipod touch already comes with.      Lets look at both sides of the story first. The Touch has been around alot longer than the HD soo think of it this way, it was way ahead of its time, and not one single portable player out there could touch it, it has since been almost 4 years now. Mac has alot of ideas they can throw into a new touch. On the other hand the HD has been under design for over 2 years now, with one thing in mind, crush the ipod touch. Yes its has OLED , HD output, and more batt life. But think of it this way. Do u think APPLE has just been selling them making rediculous amounts of money without one second thinking about all the new technology they can throw into it? Back to microsoft, With the new atom processor out, who knows WHAT MS will do next, The HD is the first step towards new platforms and new standards for all PMPS out there

I'm not sure if microsoft had something to do with this Review or not but I ended up selling my Zune HD away. The apple Ipod is much beter in my opinion. Notice the word usage of "claims" throughout the text. "Claims" doesn't necessarily mean "does" or "is". Ya, a Zune can play up to 8.5 hours of video, on an absolute low quality settings. My Ipod lasts longer than the Zune ever wished it did. Ipod is also much more versitile with other programs than the Zune. I can go on and on, but until you own both of them, you can't sit here and criticize either way. I'll just laugh at your false so-called "claims".

Devin at 6:51am 6th January 2011 Sorry man, its just...The reason that the iPod has less battery life ( and this is a fact, both of them get better battery life than they say they do) is because the Zune has an OLED display. OLED displays actually turn off the pixels when its a black color. And they do not require backlighting which means they get better colors and true blacks.

Between the zune pass, HD radio, an OLED screen, and 720p tv output, zune really doesn't leave ipod with much to brag about. The touch is more like a hand-held computer than a PMP. As far as sound quality, I really don't see a difference. If you can please help me see (or hear) a difference. Because I sure as hell can't hear it.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, just trying to learn some things... Anyway, the hd radio does put an edge or ipod touch. It has good quality too. But all the apps on the ipod... it has over 60000 apps, giving it an app for almost everything, while the zune has mearly 16 applications. As for video quality, I vote the zune. It has better resalutions and looks like its in HD. And as for proccesors, the ipod wins, letting it play 3D games, while the zune lags. They both have a 600 megahertz, but the ipod has extra "things" to add to it.

Its half-arsed,and quite honestly as bad as a reliant robin without tyres. the battery goes to about 10 percent exactly 20 minutes of tap tap revenge 3 on the dimmest screen setting and with earphones down to the lowest setting. my nokia n97 mini can play an accelerometer racing game for about 3 hours straight,and it would only drain about 15 percent(or one battery bar out of seven). quite frankly,the ipod touch 4g is a turd with a big touchscreen and a shiny back.

It has band pages, etc. Why do you assume that Itunes is better, when you don't even know what Zune uses? Typical Ipod fan here. Zune software > iTunes.

Most of the App Store SUCKS. FACE IT. No use in trying to argue that you're not human when it's pretty apparent you are (example). But, note that I did say MOST. We'll get to that in a second. You said "the app store has more than 75,000 apps and a lot of them are very useful" As I have already disagreed with your 'a lot' statement, I'm going to hop over the line onto your side. The App Store has a ton of apps. Zune has 9 (I believe). No contest. Apple wins. But I'm just restating what the guys said in the article. So did you. Useless. But this brings upon us another minute of conversation. I agree that the app store has some pretty helpful apps. I'm not gonna lie. There were some great ones. Thing is, out of everything I saw, only about 500 apps were useful. And most of them were paid. Majority of the free apps suck, hands-down. I think that Apple should care more about it's customers (as we'll read in my post later on) and not about their freaking sales (earlier example of Google Voice app) by letting a lot more of the professional apps come in so theres more of a variety of good apps. They're so hard to find these days. Anyway, let's continue... You aren't allowed to jailbreak your iPod. You can, but it is technically illegal. Not like you're going to jail for felony; you won't get filed for misdemeanor. Not anything. But Apple has their own law enforcement. If you jailbreak your iPod (obviously to get more out of it, or to make it better), Apple gets pissed off when they find out. They'll forcibly install new firmware that won't allow for a jailbreak, at least until someone else comes along to figure out how they made it so. This is a display that Apple is communist. Please don't compare this to Microsoft where if you buy non-genuine software (which is the real deal law), they could do stuff to you. Microsoft already let you install 3rd party apps. Apple didn't. It looks to me that Apple is much more communist than Microsoft. I would give you many more examples of how Apple sucks and how Microsoft doesn't (but don't get me wrong- they both have they're ups and downs- Apple just sucks more, if you will :) ) if I had the time, but I don't. HaroldMt at 10:33pm 22nd December 2010 It's just like the article said; if you want the flexibility of all the thousands of apps and abundant itunes content, then the itouch will suit you perfectly. Those of us looking for the highest quality in portable entertainment (and yes the sound and video are better quality, regardless of your inexperienced accusations) we are more than content using the zune hd and giving up all the apps. If I want to play a game, I have an xbox 360 for that, and for anything else, I have a computer, you know, the one the music comes off of.
     8. Devin at 6:43am 6th January 2011 Sound quality is much better on the ZUne HD. This is a fact. Also, its the best media player ever. Much better than the touch. You have no basis on the fact that you think it has better sound quality and music playback. Even the most hardcore fanboys admit the Zune beats the iPod in that area. Music +video and the reason why its such a big deal that it has HD radio is because it is pretty much the first portable device to support it. And-when you get it you want it. The Zune HD is the ultimate entertainment device.

The sound is way better and so is the OLED screen! So what if you have apps... what a waste of time and money! If you want the app garbage, stick to your apple but if you want a rich media player - Zune HD is way better! I've tried both and many others... to compare!

Devin Menge at 5:33pm 12th February 2011 zune hd does actually have better sound, and the big deal is a OLED screen which is more efficient and more vibrant the UI is also simply stunning, i have zune hd and just browsing the menus is fun. an the zune hd doesnt hav a ton of apps, but its got a few dozen and theyre really good and free. if u rly want apps itouch is better but as an actual player zune hd wins.

I'm sick and tired of people talking about how ipod is better than zune. Why? because it has all those apps. Come on. Half of those apps have no use what so ever.      5. david wilson at 10:31am 16th October 2010 yeah, well apples apps do make it significantly better as a micro computer, as they allow email, scriptures, e-books and a thousand other uses, not just music and video and internet. if these are all you use, then the zune trumps, but if you want more, then the ipod touch is sure to win out. i only wish Microsoft would open to outside developers, because i really like the zune, but i want a scripture app for my church, because sometimes i like to look up scriptures, and right now i have to use my phones web browser which takes a while, as my scriptures are too bulky to carry everywhere. as soon as Microsoft opens to outsiders, the zune is mine!

Devin Menge at 5:41pm 12th February 2011 zune hd has no built-in speaker, and on zune marketplace songs range from 59-99 MS points, which is maybe like $0.90-$1.10. zune, however, does have zune pass. its $15 a month to get unlimited streaming and downloads, and each month you can pick 10 songs to keep even when you unsubscribe.
