Hands on with the LG G3

Check out our full written LG G3 review.

The G3 impresses a great deal, even after using for a short time. It’s surprisingly compact, very fast, has a stunning display, and a clean, brand-new user interface.

While others still search for what makes a smartphone “premium,” it looks like LG may have already found out. The camera’s laser-assisted autofocus, according to LG, cuts the focus time down to 0.276 milliseconds, which is faster than the blink of an eye.

LG has used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the latest 8974ac version, and matched it with 2GB of RAM, but only on the version with 16GB of internal memory. If you buy a 32GB G3, it’ll have 3GB of RAM, just to confuse everyone. What’s more, all the apps are optimised for 2GB of RAM, and LG told us the other model would only provide “more headroom.” Moving through the menus and opening apps revealed it to be fast and smooth, on a par with the Nexus 5, which runs stock Android. We’ll learn more as our tests progress.
