Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight hands-on video: An e-reader you can see in the dark!

Nobody can get mad if you’re early, right? Ahead of schedule, Barnes & Noble has begun shipping pre-orders for the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight, it’s newest revision of the Nook e-reader line. While it doesn’t have the fancy color screen and responsiveness of the Nook Tablet, book enthusiasts should look forward to the new Nook. It’s essentially the same as its predecessor (which is still fantastic btw), but it now has a front-light built into the screen that will give the screen a nice white/blue glow. Aside from that, the edges are now gray, likely so that someone can tell the new device apart, and the screen seems to be ever so slightly better than the last version, with six pages between refreshes (where you’ll have a quick black screen).

We have no major complaints here. Barnes & Noble claims that the new Nook can still somehow get 1 full month of battery life even if you use it with the GlowLight for an hour a day. That’s awesome.

The Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight is now available at Barnes & Noble stores around the country. It costs about $140.
