Polk’s Hampden are high-end bookshelf speakers for your desktop

Read our full Polk Hampden review.

If the Polk audio brand brings to mind boring boxy speakers, then you owe it to yourself to check out the company’s latest line of designer audio gear. Earlier this year, Polk began releasing a series of headphones and wireless speakers that look rich and sound even richer. Here, we take a close look at the Hampden, a pair of Bluetooth-enabled desktop speakers with a direct USB connection and some serious high-end tech under the hood.

Polk armed this set of speakers with four discreet amplifiers, one for each 4.5-inch midwoofer and 1-inch silk dome tweeter. And while we feel these speakers will benefit from some break-in time, our first impressions of their sonic character are mostly positive. We also appreciate some of the smaller touches, like extra long cables for more flexible setup. To be sure, these speakers are going to look great on nearly any desktop.
