this burner is totally awesome i have yet to burn any media that it would not do the copys are totally awesome and quality is above par had to do firmware update as sooon as i got it but it has run like a charm since then

My first CDR burner was a yamaha in 1996. My second device was from plextor and I’ve been using exclusively Plextor since then. The premium hardware price translates to performance and peace of mind. It works all the time every time with no worries. This incarnation “writes on anything round”. One cannot fairly say this about other manufactures. ZERO COASTERS since 1997. Plextor’s support is second to none.

i use Nero 6.X.00 bured disk,and they have errors all.

and i used it’s original nero5.5 is so good!

itÂ´s very fast but iÂ´m unlucky i have dvd recorder phillips 890 and it canÂ´t reproduce any disc recorded inÂ´Â¨ +Â¨R

I`ve got PX-708A.. and i thing it is great… I havent got any problem… write DVD x8… no problem… Cd x40 CD-RW x24… no error…

It gave me 3 dvd-r coasters, the first in years. And the cdr speed was about 6x, not 40x., even when I disable power rec settings. I finally returned it forf credit 2 weeks later and the price had dropped $44.00, so it was an expensive lesson . It didn’t matter if I used the Easy Cd Creator with the drive, my own full version of Easy CD creator 6, or the latest Nero 6. It was a bloody nusiance to have to uninstall each version before installing the next version.

It is vesry good looking and is well-made, so the 4 is for visual and quality of build.

And I wasn’t the only one returning it..

I bought mine for 270 â¬ wich means more than it should.

But I am happy with it. I have owned other Plextor (CD 24x) wich is still working flawlessly after nearly three years.

So reliability is the more demanded think from this brand. This writer doesn’t let me down.

Choosing the media properly (not necessarily the most expensive ones nor those reccommended by Plextor) you can write +R at 8x in a number of 4x discs, and -R at 4x. With PoweRec enabled, the PlexTools software will decide the proper speed for a safe burning, but I’ve also disabled it to write at its most with no errors.

So you will have to choose media giving you what you expect.

Mine is firmware 1.01. I have heard about firmware 1.00 having a bad compatibility but that version is OK.

I expect new firmware versions with still more enhanced compatibility.

If you have the money go buy one. If not better wait (or choose other if you’re in a hurry)

I am just disappointed with its short 2Mb buffer (For the price it should be 8 Mb)
