I bought this system a little over a year ago.

Nothing but trouble with playing CDs/DVDs/MP3s - about 6 mos. in - I would lose audio and video - took in for repair under warranty - took 2 mos. to fix, got back, and unit self-destructed - wouldn't even spit the disc back out - another few months past - finally replaced with another unit under warranty - 4 months later - happy to finally get a "working" unit back - now this unit won't let me watch or listen to CDs/DVDs without getting "disc error"/"incompatible" disc error messages.

Spend your money elsewhere.

Onkyo took what was a pretty good system and coupled it with some really crappy speakers. You can buy the unit separately as the DR-C500 and get your own speakers. I purchased the Jamo A-210 PDD satellite speaker system and the combination sounds much better. I just wish this would play DVD-A or SACD, but it really came down to a price/feature issue.
