Bang & Olufsen Adds Wireless Audio Delivery

The new BeoLink Wireless 1 system uses 2.4GHz wireless technology to reportedly deliver CD quality music to any room in the house.

Bang & Olufsen, a developer of high-end audio gear, earlier this month announced a wireless music delivery system they say provides CD quality music in any room of your house. The new BeoLink Wireless 1 looks to be available now.

The BeoLink Wireless 1, said Bang & Olufsen, operates on the 2.4GHz band, with each unit functioning as both transmitter and receiver. A single BeoLink Wireless 1 as a transmitter can reportedly service up to seven rooms (seven pairs of separately sold loudspeakers) and the system as a whole can manage up to three transmitters with 21 pairs of loudspeakers around the home total.

I dont see much advantage 11g would have over 11b for this sort of application. 11b should be cheaper to make, use less power, deal with interference better and be easier in the processor with slightly better range and (less than 11g but) more than enough bandwidth for a dedicated audio system.

Any idea if this is 802.11b or g? I would worry if its b technology. B&O is always ahead of the curve design wise, but falls behind on the computer technology side it seems.
