CinemaNow Bags Fox Films, TV Shows

Having just landed deals with Warner Brothers and Disney, online movie service CinemaNow will be selling movies and TV shows from Fox.

Online movie service CinemaNow announced today that it will begin selling selected films and music from Fox Entertainment Group on a download-to-own basis through its Web site.

“We are thrilled to have the Fox family of movies and TV shows available on CinemaNow for download-to-own,” said Bruce Eisen, President of CinemaNow. “The addition of Fox to our roster of content partners is an important step for us, adding depth and strength to our customer offering.” CinemaNow’s acquisition of Fox content follows a series of recent deals for the digital video site, including arrangements to sell downloadable content from Warner Brothers and Disney. CinemaNow also carries content from Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate.

Initial film and television selections are available to CinemaNow customers beginning today. The first batch of film titles includes recent releases such as The Ringer and Cheaper By The Dozen 2, while television offerings include the first seasons of fan-loved shows 24,Buffy the Vampire Slayer,Firefly, and Lost in Space. The deal also includes television content from Fox Broadcasting Co., FX, Fuel TX, Speed, and the Twentieth Century Fox television library, including FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fuel’s First Hand, and Speed’s Pinks.

Movies range in price from $9.95 to $19.95; television episodes are $1.99 apiece. Once downloaded the movies can be played back an unlimited number of times on up to three Windows Media-compatible devices (iPods need not apply).

  1. Ian Bell and Dan Gaul at 4:22pm 13th June 2006 I would be interested in "Firefly" but all of the others seem like grade B movies. I would love to see some real blockbusters on here for a change instead of seeing these companies trying to recycle their garbage.
