My big concern is this trend of all these nazi-like organizations called HOA's (Homeowner's Associations) who believe they can trump federal law and ban the installation of roof antennas. I hope the analog cutoff will finally give some competition to the greedy cable and satellite companies by having more independent local broadcast stations.

Good luck if you live on a ranch on an Indian Reservation like I do and you don't receive your mail at home but at a PO Box. The application system is not set up to accomodate this. I have tried calling and applying online to no avail.......Just another way that Native Americans get marginalized, I guess...

A converter box or a new HDTV may not be enough. Many people who live in deep fringe reception areas 50+ miles from the nearest broadcast tower may need a larger outdoor rooftop antenna and/or preamplifier. This news story describes the problem:

http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/recent_display.js...

If there is no cable TV or satellite service in your area and over the air signals are too weak to receive Digital TV, you're really out of luck. One year from now some folks could have no TV through no fault of their own except choosing too remote a location to live.
