Get ‘em Hooked Early: Dish Adds BabyFirstTV

Dish Networks is adding BabyFirstTV to its channel lineup, making it the first satellite TV service to directly target infants and toddlers.

EchoStar Communications announced today that it is now offering BabyFirstTV to subscribers of its Dish Network satellite television service.

“The monthly cost of BabyFirstTV is lower than the price of a single baby DVD, making BabyFirstTV a great value to our customers,” said Eric Sahl, Dish Network’s senior vice president of Programming. “Subscribers can get hundreds of hours of high-quality programming at a fraction of the price of buying DVDs with similar content.”

BabyFirstTV is a 24-hour, commercial-free channel dedicated to infants, toddlers, and (of course) their checkbook-bearing parents, offering programming designed to help children learn, play, and bond with their parents and others.

BabyFirstTV is available as an a la carte option to Dish Network subscribers for $9.99 a month; a free preview will be available June 15 through July 11 as part of the Preview Showroom available on Dish Network channel 288. Approximately 80 percent of the material on BabyFirstTV is original programming intended for children aged six months to three years.
