Grace Digital Gets Your Music All Wet

Grace Digital's Aqua Sounders floating speakers can be tossed in your pool or jacuzzi: they'll play wireless music for 10 hours - and even offer mood lighting.

It’s no secret that some consumer electronics products are highly specialized: they try to find a niche market that’s not being served, then create a product designed specifically to their needs.

So if you have a pool or jacuzzi, Grace Digital Audio wants you to know about their Aqua Sounders floating wireless speakers. The idea is that these can just be tossed into a pool or jacuzzi, and they’ll stream music wirelessly (using a 900 MHz analog signal, rather than Wi-Fi) for up to 10 hours from a base station that’s up to 150 feet away. The base station can connect to any device with a headphone output—so iPods, music phones, CD players, etc., are all eligible—and the Aqua Sounders can handle depths up to 3 meters, so they’re reasonably safe for kids (and adults) to knock around in the water.

If one speaker is not enough for, say, an Olympic-sized pool, the system can be expanded to handle up to a total of ten floating speakers. And, even better, the speakers sport 2 bright LED mood lights on each side, along with volume, power, scan, and light controls.

A single speaker with base unit is priced at $149.99; additional speakers are $99 each.

Hopefully it doesn't become self aware and discharge a huge amount of electricity into your pool in order to kill everyone.
