JVC Pushes Out 40-inch and 46-inch 1080p LCDs
JVC wants to get in front of the big-LCD bandwagon, offering 1080p-capable 40- and 46-inch LCD displays with optional RS232 interfaces.
Electronics maker JVC showed off a bundle of products at CEDIA this week, including a pair of new 40- and 46-inch LCD televisions which support native 1080p resolutions and offer optional RS-232C control interfaces for integration with home or business automation systems.
The 40-inch LT-40FN97 and LT-40FH97 and the 46-inch LT-46FN97 and LT-46FH97 (the model numbers with the “H” denote the RS-232 interface) each offer full 1,920 by 1,080 pixel native resolution and JVC’s Genessa 32-bit CPU video processing which offers to upscale any video source to 1080p for display. According to JVC, standard-definition signals are enhanced through new Natural Progressive IP conversion, better scalar performance, and a new PLL system which improves the performance of a composite signal. The Genessa also offers digital noise reduction, a Block Noise Suppressor, and Mosquito Noise Suppressor which eliminates noise in low bit-rate signals without degrading the image. The displays also feature Waves MaxxBass (signal processing which extends perceived bass performance), parametric EQs, and built-in ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuners, two IEEE 1394 inputs, two component ins, two S-video ins, PC input, and AV output—and they’re CableCard Capable.
The LT-40FN97 will debut at with an MSRP of $3,799.95; the LT-46FN96 runs $4,599.95. Add $300 to get an RS-232 port on the 40-inch model, $200 to get on on the 46-inch unit.
