We’ve known since the week of Christmas that OLED technology would be the linchpin to LG’s CES 2013 announcements, but the company saved the all-important pricing details for the opening of the show. LG announced at its Monday-morning press conference that its 55-inch OLED TVs will begin selling in the United States in March, to the tune of $12,000. Pricing for the 65-inch model hasn’t yet been announced. For the lucky few that will perk up at that news instead of flinching, LG will begin accepting preorders online immediately.
As for a the rest of us, here’s a roundup of all the other new tech LG will be showing off at CES 2013.
- We’ll see no less than 47 new HDTVs from LG this year, which are now exclusively lit by LEDs rather than CCFLs.
- Google TV fans will be able to choose from among seven new models from LG, which will run version 3 of the platform and range in size from 42 to 60 inches.
- LG’s new laser projector can throw a 100-inch screen sitting just 22 inches away from the screen.
- Home audio gurus will be able to choose from four new soundbars, two of which have Internet streaming from Pandora and Netflix built in.
- Two new Blu-ray players will work with LG’s Wii-style Magic Motion remotes.
Stupid price
And it costs only like 150 to make!!
Ha Ha!
price is obscene.
Watch the same crap, but much bigger.
I wouldn’t even pay that for 4K.
when these are 70″+ for ~$4000, i’ll bite. until then my calibrated 50 plasma still looks great. ;-)
They(LG) say that it burns in………….and to avoid programs with tickers, scrolling text ect. That leaves most sports fans out.
While we’re wishing…I’d also want the $12000 to buy it.
Not to me it won’t.
Can I get 10 please
Outside of the price, I would not mind having one! Might look good in my office. #UGNZ
3D has a more damaging effect on the eyes than all those other models prior….
No i don’t. Maybe if it were like $500.00 bucks.
Don’t need it. Don’t want it. 1080p is enough for me.
