NEC Debuts Budget Commercial Displays

Who said digital signage had to run over $2,000? NEC's MultiSync 15 series displays include loads of commercial features at price tags closer to consumer levels.

Plenty of companies build commercial-grade displays that will run nonstop, survive high temperatures, rain, spills, public mischief, but all that torture testing never comes cheap. Most run for many times as much as their consumer-grade equivalents. NEC released a new line of commercial displays on Tuesday designed to meet the same rugged standards, but without the commercial-grade price tag.

The MultiSync 15-series  LCD3215 and LCD4215 displays (which span 32 and 42 inches, respectively) have advanced cooling systems to protect against overheating, higher-quality panels that won’t allow static images to burn in, and 4×4 TileMatrix capabilities for using them as pieces of a larger multi-panel display. They can also be monitored and tweaked remotely, or scheduled to display different content at different times of the week. Panel specs include 1366 x 768 native resolution, 800:1 contrast ratios, and 500 cd/m2 brightness.

NEC will ship the smaller MultiSync 3215 in December for $1,199, while the 4215 will arrive in October with a $1,699 street price.
