New Linux Media Center

Embedded Software Group (ESG) today announced it has assisted Transmeta Corporation (NASDAQ:TMTA) in the development and integration of Royal Linux Media Center(TM), the software foundation of Transmeta’s Linux-based fanless Digital Entertainment Center. The Efficeon(TM)-powered technology is being shown at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 6-9, 2005.

Transmeta will be demonstrating the Royal Linux Media Center(TM), based on the ESG’s award-winning Royal Linux(TM) technology, at its booth #36235 in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s South Hall. Based on open source MythTV 0.16 software and running on Royal Linux(TM), the Royal Linux Media Center(TM) offers one of the first open source and commercially-available digital media centers. ESG’s digital entertainment center delivers the latest in media requirements including ‘watch, pause, fast forward and rewind’ live TV, the ability to record TV programs and view them on different TVs (as well as PCs or projectors), access to the Internet, video and music libraries, pictures and much more.

“Our long-standing relationship with ESG has enabled our customers to leverage the company’s software expertise. Today, we are pleased to announce that our two companies have come together to demonstrate a cost-effective, fanless Efficeon-based digital entertainment center,” said Arthur L. Swift, senior vice president of marketing for Transmeta Corporation. “ESG’s expertise in open source technology, and its outstanding customer support, are two values that Transmeta has come to respect from ESG as a partner.”

Embedded Software Group provides experienced software development and integration services for embedded markets, as well as application-specific devices including the newly-announced Royal Linux Media Center(TM). “The high performance and cool operation inherent in the Efficeon processor architecture makes it ideally suited for this new breed of quiet small digital entertainment centers. ESG’s expertise in open source, coupled with our experience with Transmeta processors, makes it possible for us to provide faster time-to-market for our customers — and their customers. We are pleased to be partnering with Transmeta on their fanless Digital Entertainment Center,” stated Sahel Binesh, President and CEO of Embedded Software Group.
