Two new RCA products that provide consumers with greater flexibility in storing and managing digital home entertainment content are now available from Thomson.

The RCA DVD +R/+RW recorder enables digital recording and playback of television programs and home videos, while the RCA Home Theatre Music Jukebox lets users store, manage and playback more than 350hours of mp3 music without a PC.

“These two new home audio/video products combine cutting edge technology with easy to use navigation systems that simplify the home entertainment experience,” said Mark Redmond, Vice President, Worldwide Audio and Video. “Thomson is simplifying the digital recording process at home, helping consumers to conveniently enjoy their audio and video content with a minimum of confusion.”

Free, On-Screen Guide Provides Added Convenience for DVD Recording

The RCA DVD +RW/+R recorder, Model DRC8000N, combines the recording capabilities of a VCR with the digital quality of a DVD player. It allows consumers to record their favorite television shows and home videos onto a DVD disc that can be played in most DVD players and DVD ROM drives currently on the market. The DRC8000N also incorporates the free, easy to navigate Guide Plus+ onscreen program guide with one touch-record that makes recording off air programs simple.

Key advantages of the +RW format include the ability to add, delete, or edit directly on the disc while maintaining compatibility with DVD players and ROM drives. DVD +RW is a very user-friendly recording format since there is only one disc type for both CE and PC products and no complex recording settings or lengthy formatting steps are required.

The Bi-Sonic (speakers on the sides of the screen) family of RCA LCD products includes model LCDX2722W, a 27-inch widescreen display and a 20-inch model, LCDS2022B. Both feature an ultra thin screen, with only a quarter-inch wide visible panel, Bi-Sonic speakers located on both the left and right side of the screen and a tilt base for viewing convenience. Both incorporate VGA ports for connection to a laptop or desktop computers. The displays are enhanced by Thomson’s “floating picture” design concept prevalent in the RCA Scenium product line. The high gloss black borderless screen creates the illusion of a floating picture and visually brightens the picture, much like the screen in a dark theatre.
