NuVision Deep Black LED DLP TV Due Soon

NUVision announced today that production is underway on its 52-inch 1080p LED CLP television, and units should be available in October.

Although it initially planned to get units out the door in September, NuVision announced today that its 52LEDLP 52-inch, 1080p-resolution Deep Black LCD DLP TV has gone into production and should start shipping during October (neat trick, considering only about three business days remain in the month!).

NuVision’s Deep Black LED DLP television uses the PhlatLight semiconductor chipset to product deeper blacks, a more defined grey scale, and richer color fidelity than traditional LCD or plasma flat screen televisions—NuVision claims the system goes 40 percent beyond HDTV color standards. The system uses indivudal red, green, and blue LEDs instead of the conventional lamps in rear-projection TVs and precisely controlling LED output in dark portions of images for deeper blacks.

The new optical system also offers improved brightness (500 cd/m² and contrast (5,000:1), fast power-up times and near-silent operation, all in an environmentally-friendly product which doesn’t need replacement bulbs and contains none of the mercury and other hazardous substances found in conventional televisions.

The 52LEDLP offers 1,920 by 1080-pixel resolution, ATSC/QUAM and NTSC tuning, two HDMI/HDCP inputs, two component and S-video inputs, three composite inputs, and a V-Chip.

The 52LEDLP will be available through selected retailers and installers for a suggested price of $4,399 NuVision plans Deep Black LED displays in additional sizes as it ramps up production.
