Pioneer Files Suit Against Samsung

Pioneer today has filed a suit in Texas against Samsung for patent infringment on plasma technology.

Pioneer is seeking a court order freezing the sale of Samsung SDI products and asking for compensation for past infringements.

The two companies have been in talks since April of 2005 to try and settle things, however Pioneer has ultimately determined that litigation is necessary in order to protect their property. The following Pioneer patents are being named in the suit:

U.S. Patent No. 5,182,489: Plasma display having increased brightness
U.S. Patent No. 5,640,068: Surface discharge plasma display
