Pioneers new dual-tuner Hi-Def DVR will come with a large 120GB hard drive. This player sounds killer, but is 120GB enough for recording in HDTV?
It appears that the Voyager 4000 is not available to the general public (yet), but will be offered as part of a Cable company’s set-top box product line. What caught our attention is that the Voyager 4000, although it is not designed to be attached to a home network, can in theory transfer HD-quality MPEG-2 video from its hard drive to any PC via its dual IEEE 1394 (FireWire) ports. But the not-so-nice folks at Pioneer have integrated Macrovision, HDCP, and 5C copy protection so it might be a challenge to actually playback the content once it’s on the PC.
