A new series of RCA-brand high performance hook up connectors that enable audio/video enthusiasts to make simple, easy and reliable home theatre connections are now available from Thomson. Theconnectors, which incorporate Centerpin technology®, eliminate the need for stripping, soldering or crimping tools when making coaxial and speaker connections.
“These connectors are ideal for consumers who strive to create the best sound and video reproduction in their home theatre systems, but don’t want to endure a complicated process,” commented David Geise, Vice President of Consumer Solutions, Thomson. “The connector is just as important as the cable, and often the installation experience has been frustrating. These new connectors can be attached to a cable in a few simple steps, which makes it very easy to upgrade your system when it’s time to add new gear,” he added.
The new connector line includes coaxial F-connectors, in-line F connectors, RCA A/V connectors, and speaker connectors. It’s the perfect solution for enthusiasts who want to create custom lengths of cable or speaker wire. “Typically, a consumer buys a reel of cable and then cuts it to a required length. Until now, adding a connector required stripping the cable and then using soldering or crimping tools to attach the connector. For many, the process is cumbersome and time consuming,” Geise explained.
With these new RCA connectors, the consumer simply slips the end cap of the connector over a freshly cut cable, pushes the cable straight into the connector and then squeezes the piercing fingers with standard pliers so that the cap fits snugly.
The connectors are made of solid brass and are gold plated to deliver a more reliable signal and prevent interference. They are also designed for use in outdoor applications.
