South Korea's Samsung has partnered with Giorgio Armani to offer 46 and 52-inch LCD televisions for Europe, Russia, and South Korea.
Samsung and Italilian designer Giorgio Armani have partnered in the past on a cell phone—which they just updated today. But in Milan today the two companies entered a new high-end market, announcing new 46- and 52-inch LCD televisions to be offered for sale in Europe, Russia, and South Korea by mid-year. The panes feature a 100 Hz refresh rate, full HD display, HDMI input and a unique pebble remote controls. The units also sport a wood frame and a four-mode lighted power switch that—no joke—enables users to customize the display of the two companies’ logos on the television.
Because, obviously, one of the most important things about a television is that its branding be displayed in a way which best matches one’s décor and mood.
Samsung has previously partnered with Bang & Olufsen, Annau Sui, and Versace on handset products, but it marks the first time the company has teamed with a high-end designer on consumer home electronics.
The company didn’t reveal any pricing information for the sets, or whether the two companies are collaborating on any additional products.
