Silicon Image Debuts New HDMI Reciever

Silicon Image has developed a new low-cost HDMI reciever for use with digital television sets.

Fully HDMI-compliant, the SiI 9011 supports bandwidths up to 165 MHz and  the widest range of video resolutions including 1080p and UXGA.  To improve  manufacturers’ time to market and reduce design time, register sets for the  SiI 9011 are backward compatible with Silicon Image’s prior-generation SiI  9021, SiI 9031 and SiI 9993 HDMI receivers.  The SiI 9011 supports the  DVD-Audio standard, including 7.1-surround audio at 96 kHz and stereo audio at  192 kHz.  The SiI 9011 features a flexible digital output capable of  interfacing in 12-, 24- and 48-bit modes, enabling a direct connection to a  wide variety of video processors including the latest generation offering  support for 1080p resolutions.  It also supports HDCP repeater functionality  for applications such as media receiver set-top boxes and A/V receivers.

The SiI 9011′s built-in HDCP decryption engine secures the digital link  for transmission of valuable high-definition (HD) video and audio. Each SiI  9011 is pre-programmed with unique HDCP keys, providing the highest level of  security while reducing manufacturing complexity and cost.  A new built-in  HDCP self-test engine simplifies manufacturing testing.
