Sony KLV-20WS2 TV Will Be Wireless

Sony has announced a wireless LAN-compatible LCD TV, the KLV-20WS2 which is aimed at the corporate and upscale markets.

“Sony Marketing Inc of Japan on Sept 20 plans to launch a 20-inch, liquid-crystal display (LCD) TV, the “KLV-20WS2,” which is compliant with two wireless LAN standards, the 5GHz (IEEE802.11a) and 2.4GHz (IEEE802.11g) bands.

“Dual Hi-Bit Wireless,” compatible with two wireless LAN specifications, the IEEE802.11a and IEEE802.11g, is used for the display and transmission systems. In order to deal flexibly with attenuations via radio interferometry and interference, a dual-band auto scan function is installed. The function selects the optimal channel automatically from seven channels — four channels from 5GHz and the rest from 2.4GHz.”

There is no word yet on whether this TV will make it state-side, but with wireless displays from the Sharp Aquos line picking up steam in the U.S., we have no doubt that Sony will eventually start selling the KLV-20WS2 here.
