EETimes is reporting that rear projection television sales jumped 39 percent for the 4th quarter in 2004 with Sony holding their sales lead.
“DisplaySearch (Austin, Texas) said shipments of microdisplay-based RPTVs were 626,000 units the fourth quarter, capturing 34 percent of the total rear-projection TV market. Revenue rose 28 percent to $1.75 billion, or 52 percent of total RPTV revenue.
Sony saw its unit share of the RPTV market rise from 25 to 39 percent in North America and 28 to 40 percent worldwide, as the company pulled away from No. 2-ranked Samsung, according to DisplaySearch.”
