Quote from the article at TV Predictions:
“I have always said that cable and satellite TV operators, who control 85 percent of the U.S. market, will determine which new TV features will succeed. The American viewer does not have the patience or finances to try out multiple offerings in a new category; he or she will pick the product that’s most convenient and entertaining. Considering that either a cable or satellite box is in most homes, it’s easier to pick the service offered by your TV provider.”
