Toshiba (Slightly) Delays HD DVD Recorder

Toshiba is pushing back the Japanese launch of its RD-A1 HD DVD recorder to the end of July to allow time to build up inventory.

In a move sure to have more impact on headlines than the real world, electronics maker Toshiba, ringleader of the HD DVD camp, said today that it is pushing back the Japanese introduction of its first HD DVD recorder, the RD-A1, from July 14 to July 27. According to Toshiba, the delay is to allow the company to build up enough pre-launch inventory, rather than due to production snafus or component shortages.
