V,Inc. Adds DLP Rear Projection To Line-up

V, Inc. has added the Rear Projection TV (RPTV) category to its home entertainment product lineup with the launch of the VIZIO RP56, a 56-inch wide-screen HD DLP Television.

The VIZIO RP56 features Texas Instruments’ Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology. This technology produces higher contrast levels, sharper images and better motion reproduction through the use ofits HD2 DMD (Digital MicroMirror Device) chip. At the core of DLP chip technology are thousands of mirrors spaced less than one micron apart. By minimizing the space between the pixels in a projectedimage, the DLP system creates a seamless and sharp digital image at any projected size. By combining this technology with 4.0 gain screen technology, the VIZIO RP56 provides an incredible picture ina lighter, slimmer (less than 19 inches deep) cabinet.

The VIZIO RP56 offers a native HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (720p), 1500:1 contrast ratio and features a direct digital DVI (Digital Video Interface) with HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection)for the best in direct digital reproduction. The DVI input’s color space can be selected as PC video (0-255) or HD video (16-235) so valuable black picture details are not eliminated.

The VIZIO RP56 also offers a dual A/V tuner for PIP (picture-in-picture with audio) and POP (picture-on-picture) so you can watch and hear two of your favorite TV shows simultaneously. Any of yourvideo streams from HDTV, DVD, VCR, SAT and cable can be displayed using PIP in either 4:3 or 16:9 aspect modes.

Video format inputs include two SD/HD component video, two composite video, two S-Video and a RF antenna. A side panel houses a composite video, S-Video and PC RGB with corresponding audio inputs forconnection to game boxes, camcorders and laptop computers. Additionally, the side panel allows connection to headphone jacks for the PIP and main screen allowing flexibility for audioentertainment.

The RPTV also includes Faroudja’s Directional Correction Deinterlacer (DCDi) technology for enhancing standard definition video programming. DCDi is a motion-adaptive deinterlacer capable ofidentifying either video or film-based content – even with incorrectly authored DVDs. Video material’s edges are interpolated to produce smooth natural images from standard definition sources. Motionartifacts and jagged edges are eliminated using the deinterlacer’s 3:2/2:2 pull down for a more fluid on-screen experience.

Built-in dual speakers create a 3D enhancement effect when utilizing VIVA HD3D Sound from BBE, completing the home theater package with surround audio.

The VIZIO RP56 is available for $2999 at select retailers including Costco stores nationwide.
