Until now, if you wanted an 80-inch TV, you pretty much had to look to Sharp. But now Vizio is in the game, and, as has come to be expected from the company, it is shaking things up.
The new 80-inch leviathan is part of Vizio’s refreshed M-Series, so it will come with a super-thin bezel and slim profile, providing an edge-to-edge picture that we found pretty impressive during our CES 2013 preview. Along with the TV will come Vizio’s latest remote design, which combines Wi-Fi and universal remote functions to control an entire home theater’s worth of equipment.
Naturally, this will be a Smart TV outfitted built-in Wi-Fi and apps for Netflix, Amazon Instant, Hulu Plus, VUDU, Pandora, YouTube and Facebook on board. This will also be a 3D TV, and since Vizio is part of the passive 3D camp, you can expect extra 3D glasses will come cheap.
The suggested retail price for this set is $4,000. Ultimately, we’ll see that number go down, but for now that’s the price we’re seeing at Amazon. You can also find this TV right now at Best Buy, Costco, Sam’s Club and Walmart.
