This past weekend, New York City celebrated its third annual World Maker Faire event in the New York Hall of Science in Queens. There were lots of geeky computing goodness for science lovers of all ages, from Lego Avengers characters to an Arduino-programmed DJ set to a “village” dedicated to 3D printers of all makes and sizes. Despite the cloudy weather over the weekend, thousands of people came to check out the myriad of speakers, from Wired‘s Editor-in-Chief Chris Anderson to Kickstarter veterans, and musical acts that ranged from alternative rock to Katy Perry’s “California Girls”-themed dancers. The one display getting the majority of the buzz is, of course, the brand-spankin’-new MakerBot Replicator 2 desktop 3D printers which took up a huge area of the 3D printer tent.
We could go on and go, but it’s probably easier to just check ’em all out in this compilation video we’ve put together for your viewing pleasure. If you missed this year’s event, the next Maker Faire is slated for October 6 in both Fort Wayne, IN and Salt Lake City, UT. Judging by the countless sights and activities, this is a family-friendly event your inner geek child would not want to miss.
