While Microsoft’s Kinect system hasn’t quite caught in with gamers that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t had an impact. Since it’s debut the motion sensor has been tested in a myriad of ways from 3D mapping to being used on an electronic skateboard.
The latest technological marvel is the Telehuman from Human Media Lab (HML). The crew at HML have managed to use the sensor to create a 3D display that sens a life-size representation of a person to another pod in another location. It’s one step-closer to hologram technology.
In the video above, HML shows how the Telehuman could be used to teach anatomy lessons using gestures and an interactive 3D display. For a deeper breakdown take a look at our written coverage of Telehuman’s 3D video chat pod.
