Your smart kitchen is getting closer and closer to being able to cook for you, so naturally, it ought to be able to clean up after itself, too. And while self-washing pots and pans don’t quite exist (yet), there’s another smart kitchen appliance that’s hoping to help in its own way. GE Appliances now offers “connected dishwashers,” which integrate with Amazon Dash so that you’ll always have detergent for your washing machine. Because you’re obviously not doing them by hand.

“We’re excited to be the first to offer Wi-Fi-connected dishwashers with Dash Replenishment reordering capability,” said Cynthia Fanning, vice president of dishwasher products at GE Appliances. “We know that families are using Dash Replenishment to simplify their lives, and we believe that this is one of the many ways our dishwashers will take the chore out of kitchen clean up.”

Now, you don’t even have to worry about logging into your Amazon account to replenish your dish soap supply. Instead, just set up Dash Replenishment by way of the GE Kitchen app and your Amazon account. Then, select the dish detergent pod you like best, and how many you want to order at a time. You’ll also be prompted to tell Amazon and the GE app how many pods you have left, whereupon your connected dishwasher will keep tabs on how many it’s used by counting wash cycles.

Once you start running low, your smart kitchen appliance promises to use Dash Replenishment to get you your refills on time, so you never have to worry about an unwashed load or, horror of horrors, using a sponge.

This dishwasher integration comes on the heels of GE Appliances’ launch of Dash Replenishment with laundry products, which sought to simplify the process of reordering detergent and/or fabric softener.

“Dash Replenishment is all about making customers’ lives easier and helping ensure they never run out of everyday essentials. With Dash Replenishment, customers can skip a trip to the store and simply depend on their GE dishwasher or washing machine to reorder dish detergent, laundry detergent and fabric softener the moment supplies run low,” said Daniel Rausch, director of Amazon Devices.

“ We’re thrilled to be teaming up with GE Appliances as it expands its portfolio of appliances that are integrated with Dash Replenishment.”
